Who's the TV programming guru that left out the Sony?
Crikies, can't see any of this golf this week. Seriously considering signing up for the Golf Channel (digital package?) just to get all the golf coverage. Some tell me that plus the monday instructional show is worth it?
Well, don't forget you also get to learn about all the products available for improving your swing - Medicus, Q-link, Q-ray, Solus Wedges, SkyCaddie, etc., as well as all the programs on DVD that pros you've never heard of have endorsed because it helped them so much! In fact, you get to see these over and over again!
Oh, and of course, there's always Natalie Gulbis' show!

You left out that smash hit "Big Break". Talk about golf and realtiy T.V. at it's finest.
On another note if you are a golf junkie you'll love the coverage of the European Tour and the Nationwide Tour.
It already does not look good for Golf. Check put the golf channel's front page or the text below. I know it is too early, but this was a mistake by the golf powers to be.
"In other bad news respected Sports Business Daily, a media industrial publication, came out with a report that Golf Channel ratings declined 44% over ratings produced by ESPN last year. Unfortunely since this is pay service, we can't provide a link but some of the numbers that could shock some was that only 505,129 households watched Golf Channel's final round coverage compared to ESPN's 997,310 households last year.
Of course the PGA Tour put some spin control on this as Ty Votaw, Executive VP Communications & International Affairs was quoted in the article saying "Conclusions after only one event, and the first event, in this relationship are not terribly productive. We’re pleased with what we achieved in that first event because they were consistent with our projections." Of course we will hear more on this in the days coming."
I get the 'Top 180' package from Dish so I can watch The Golf Channel (well, and VH1 Classic also). To me, $10 a month more than the next lower package is worth it to be able to watch all the live golf, plus Golf Academy Live on Monday nights.
On Christmas Day, TGC ran a "Bobby Jones Lessons from a Legend" marathon, that was pretty nice and better TV than watching a parade.

Yeah, but what does the Top 120 add over the Top 60? Almost everything on TV today is fluff...they should let us pick our ten favorites and charge a fee for those. I'd be set, anyway
I don't know how much extra it would cost you Bulls , but I'd pay the extra if it didn't already come with my expanded basic package. It would be worth it to me even before they got this PGA contract. The 3 is worn out on my remote (it's channel 33). The Nationwide, The Europeans, some of the Ladies and Seniors, the old Shell matches, The Big Break (it's really a lot of fun regardless of what you've heard from some of the traditionalist fuddy-duddys), etc, etc..... You won't be sorry.
Despite working in high-tech, I am not well-equipped with technology on the golf course or at home. No personal cell-phone, no HDTV, no clubs that couldn't have been manufactured in the 1990s, etc.. But I do get the Golf Channel, since last year! And it is mostly a joy. It is worth what it will cost you. One of the best features are the Golf-Classics matches that they show: These are hour-long recaps of majors of the past. Having started playing and watching golf in only a few years ago TGC gives me a the opportunity to see the golf-greats of the past.
Of course in Hawaii the time is different but Golf Channel (they dropped the "The") will air tournament coverage live and a repeat later in the day for those who couldn't watch it live...ESPN didn't do that. I read an article that said ESPN is broadcast to 92 million homes and Golf Channel to 75 million so maybe it was such a shrewd move...but I counter that ESPN viewership covers other sports as well, Golf Channel just one...I'd say 75 million regular viewers as opposed to whatever you can glean from sports viewers in general is a pretty good trade.

Yeah, I don't think it'll work out too badly for the Tour in the end. The weekends will still mostly be on NBC and CBS. Plus, extended coverage is any fan's dream, isn't it?
Wazmankg, lol, I called up our cable company saturday morning (in the midst of an ice storm) thinking I can just 'order' the Golf Channel and they'd push a button and I'd get it immediately. It's about $15 more...$4.99/mo for the box, $4.50/mo for the 'signal'?, and $5.00/mo for the channel package....that's about 1 pizza/month or the Golf Channel....I'll take golf.

Go Bulls, but too bad you have to pay extra for it. I have been getting TGC for years now as part of basic service!
