is it me or is nick faldo ALWAYS stareing at kelly tillman? I mean geez he's practically undressing her with his eyes the whole time....look at the camera man...the camera....
or maybe it's just me???
I don't think you are the only one. While watching most of the first two events, I became very uncomfortable during a few of their exchanges...
I thought the same thing when I heard Lopez was named the permanent host of the Hope. Obviously, there's not another Bob Hope type out there but from what I've seen it appears that Lopez is trying to turn this event into the Crummy Comedy Celebrity/CEO Classic. I'm not sure Bob would approve.
If Lopez is all they've got to offer these days, then true comedy has become extinct. He is not funny. Him being named the permanent host is bad news. And being paired up with a person (De La Hoya) that's become famous for hitting people is even worse. Do they really have to show both of their lousy swings every three minutes?
I watched some of the "show" last night. It is downright pitiful. I understand that it's a pro/celebrity tournament, but where are the real celebrities? The least they could have done was show Alice Cooper play more. He, at least, is good. Must be the long hair. Not conservative and "funny" enough maybe?
Hopefully this weekend TGC will come back to their senses and show some real golf.
Oh yeah... Faldo... the dude talks too much... and when it's the other persons time to yack it up, he continues to blab in the background. Shut up Faldo and let the others have their say!!
If I want to watch terrible golf I'll play 18 with my friends.
Well, I felt like every once in a while he would say something ever-so-slightly suggestive and she would just keep on talking.
Here's an example I can remember...
They were showing footage of people doing some acrobatic surfing. The man on the board was holding a woman above his head, etc. Nick said something like, "That's what I wanted to do to you." She just seems a bit naive maybe, or possibly smart enough to just ignore him...

So far, it's a strange couple.
I have to agree, though I think they are getting a little better. Sometimes I feel like I'm the "fly on the wall" watching some guy trying to chat up a gal at the bar. That's uncomfortable, IMO.

Waz, you have this incredible talent of being able to say so perfectly and simply the things I can't quite put together with words. Show off!
Especially when the guy is like..."Yeah, I am a 5-time Major Championship winner. And I am really rich."
And the significantly younger, naive gal's continuous response is, "Really? Wow! That's like sooooooooooo cool."
We can't hate this guy. If any of you were 6 time major winner with tons of money, I'm sure you would use that to get the chicks. I think that the sexual tension on the show is great, kinda like a Mulder and Scully type situation. Why would we cringe at the possibility that he may end up under the sheets with her? She's an attractive woman (wah wah wie! – Borat) and he's got the $$$ and the charming british personality. Besides, maybe she's not into him and is not easily charmed by him. It would be great to watch her stand her ground on the show.

Well there you go... there probably are a lot of folks who enjoy it as you do. I don't cringe at the prospect of them hooking up, I just would rather not watch the dance... not mixed with my golf coverage anyway.
You guys need to lighten up. This is the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Bob Hope was about entertainment and always was about that. The golf is secondary.
For at least 2 (Bob Hope and Pebble) tournaments in the year, the focus is first on the celebrities, and then on the final day, about the golf. People generally want to see George Lopez and Bill Murray far more than Scott Verplank (as an example). This tourny is mostly for fun, and the pro's know it. They play in it, because they get to meet and play golf with some fun people and also pickup a nice paycheck in the process.
And actually, this is the only golf tournament I can get my wife to actually sit and watch with me - because of the celebrities.
Yeah, they even discussed that he's the most eligible guy in golf, or something to that extent. I saw Oscar' hosel rocket from the bunker...surprised there weren't more with that swing, actually. Taylor Hicks has sure gotten his share of air time...I didn't even know who the heck he was as I never, ever watch American Idol. Do not try to emulate his form, btw. I didn't watch all of the coverage yesterday but one guy I never saw is Jerome Bettis and his team is in second. I agree with the sentiment that since there are only a couple of the celeb pro-ams like this I don't get too bent out of shape about the coverage.
