LOL, not bad...did you do/say anything to acknowledge her?
Not to hijack the thread, but I had a similar occurence last year in San Antonio, on the Westin LaCantera Resort practice area before a round. There was a tall young African-american fellow on the range, which the cart boy said was a player from the San Antonio Spurs...well, I didn't recognize him (not that I would know him unless he's one of the starters). There was also another man, just as tall but older and distinguished looking (kinda like Julius Erving with grey hair)....he went over to speak to the younger man. I surmised he must be perhaps a mentor, or previous older generation player. I went to the putting/chipping green for about half hour to which the older man came back and worked on his putting. I couldn't help notice the big, leather bag with a big bold brassy/gold engraved name plate:
George "The Iceman" Gervin. He was a nice gentleman, friendly as I sent my putt back and forth past him and his bag, and I could tell the way he went back to talk to the younger Spurs player that he must be 'somebody'? But to my misfortune, I didn't even know who that was....until I got home and looked it up on the internet....geesh, he ranks up there with Wilt Chamberlain and I didn't even recognize the name!!!
