Can Woods win three USGA titles in a row again?

I know this is premature, and I am not talking about the US Senior Open.
Looking at the upcoming US Open venues, we have:

2007 Oakmont
2008 Torrey Pines
2009 Bethpage Black
2010 Pebble Beach

I don't know much about Oakmont, and how it fits his game, but his record at the next three shows that if he can ever get the "triple triple", it can happen by 2010. Imagine if he can add three consecutive US Opens to his three consecutive US Juniors and US Amateurs.

I wouldn't say that it's impossible, but very unlikely. He would be doing something special if he just won two of them, let alone all four. I think the US Open is the toughest event in all of golf for anyone to "own" in that fashion.

FWIW, I don't see him being the lone ranger at Bethpage next time around. Lots of big hitters have emerged since the last one there. ;)

He loves Torrey Pines, likes Bethpage, and dislikes Pebble Beach. Is now the best chance for Tiger to win 3 consecutive U.S. Opens? Maybe yes, but it's not going to happen, it's just too difficult for anyone to do it. That's why he's "only" won the US Open twice, the least of any of his majors. He has the best chance of anyone to do the "triple triple" but that doesn't mean it will happen.

Prefer to see a spread of players win this tournament and being realistic, that task would be monumental.

Is his next swing change projected to fall in the 2007-2010 period, or is it just outside?

It wasn't Tiger's length that gave him the edge at Bethpage...it was the strength to gouge the ball out of that nasty rough. There might be longer guys on Tour right now, but there aren't many stronger when it comes to playing from the cabbage.

Tiger dislike's Pebble's bumpy greens in February. They'll still be a little bumpy in June for the Open, but not quite as bad.

I understand that and agree. But "gouging" the ball out of rough from 150 yards to the green as opposed of "gouging" the ball out of rough from 190 yards to the green is a major difference (no pun intended).

However, I will concede that his uncanny ability to escape from trouble is totally unmatched. None better at making par in a trainwreck situation than Tiger.

I don't think i'd give much thought to him winning 3 straight US Opens so much as I'd like to see him take another shot at the triple crown - mainly just for the exposure that having him at the Canadian Open would be... that being no knock on Vijay, Furyk, or other big-name perennial players of the event - they simply don't draw the media the way Tiger does. At this point, the Bell could do with all the exposure it can get - it doesn't exactly seem to get treated like any of the other national opens anymore.

I agree, Sam Snead for all his wins was never able to win a U.S. Open. It's the one blemish on one of the most incredible careers in pro golf.

The U.S. Open is not some much a golf tournament but a survival test. No other tournament puts as much mental stress on a golfer in terms of difficulty of course setup and the ability to score low. That being said if anybody to put together or run of three U.S Opens in a row it would be Tiger. If he does it, it's just another part of his legacy.
