Maybe it's me but , and of course I understand all of the actual Tiger coverage, it seemed to be especially overboard at times this week. Many times when another golfer made a bad putt or a less than perfect chip or sand shot or whatever, Faldo would invariably chime in with "Tiger would've done so & so" or "only Tiger could've pulled off that one"...
After watching the other guys limp home playing bogey golf, it's hard to disagree with that one.

If it's that unimportant, why watch? There seems to be a lot of resentment brewing around here. I said before, I've seen tourneys where he wasn't in contention and you saw maybe 2 or 3 of his shots the entire day on Sunday. The coverage is focused on the leaders, be it Tiger or whoever.
People only seem to complain about the focus being totally on the leader when the leader is Tiger Woods. If he had shot 74 yesterday and CHIII walked away with it, nobody would have complained about seeing his ugly mug all day
I was just blown away by Tiger's playing. He pulls that eagle out of his back pocket right when he needed it, he made several clutch putts on the back nine on Saturday, and the sand saves on Sunday were incredible. Those bunker shots were masteful. His lay up on 18 was the proper course of action. His course management is awesome.
I dont regard myself as a super Tiger fan, but that guy is incredible. He is just playing on a totally different level than the mere mortals around him.
The guy hardly ever misses anything inside 6ft whereas Howl III and the rest of the field are running at about 50%.
The guy now has 55 PGA victories. Meanwhile Singh has 30 and Phil has 29.

Well, I watch at least some of it every week, Tiger or no. Let me be more specific about what bothers me the most. It's not showing all of Tiger's shots, it's all of the coverage of Tiger when he's not doing anything. Tiger walking down the fairway. Tiger walking from green to tee. Tiger talking with Stevie. Tiger thinking about his club selection. Tiger's mom sitting with some kid. Tiger evaluating his putt for 2 minutes. Tiger pensively looking off in the distance. Tiger's mom holding some kid on her lap. Tiger staring pensively off in the distance some more, for those who missed it the 1st time, etc, etc, etc.... I prefer watching golf, but maybe that's just me.

Maybe because we don't see them as often. I've seen (and heard) some of the same things from other golfers when they make mistakes as well.
Yep, I went to the Shell Houston Open several years ago. I was following Els at first, but then saw Mickelson on an adjacent hole so I went and followed his group the rest of the round. Guess who he was playing with? None other than Geoff Ogilvy. They were on a par 5 and Ogilvy hit a greenside bunker in two. So he gets in there and hits his sand shot, but it comes up about 15 feet short b/c he chunked it I suppose. He starts slamming his club repeatedly into the bunker and yelling every obscenity known to man. I was thinking, "Wow, this guy could hang with Tiger EASILY in the cursing department!"
The funniest part of that little scene is that he made the 15 footer for birdie right after throwing his tantrum. I was amazed at how calm he was at the U.S. Open last year, knowing what I did about him from personally seeing him throw such a tantrum over a pretty insignificant shot in the 3rd round (he and Mickelson weren't even in contention either!). From then on, I assumed he was a hothead with little discipline. But he proved me wrong in a big way at Winged Foot, although I did hear after that tourney that he's been working with a sports psychologist the past couple of years to tone down his temper. I'd say the psychologist has done wonders for his game!
I know exactly what you mean TTU. I heard some things last year from the guys...they're not exactly perfectly behaved and completely calm out there, but because the cameras aren't on them, it's rarely seen.
I am now seeing a big change in how Tiger is perceived. For the first 10 years on Tour, he was always considered a young gun or a phenom.
Now, at 31, he is already a LEGEND.
The Young Gun Tiger was always beating older players, and trying his best to be gracious about it. (Besides very early on, when he said things like "I didn't have my A game".) In his mid-late 20's, he would win and say things like he got lucky, or was fortunate, or saying he beat a great champion, or was just happy to be in such great company as the others - those being players like Couples, Love III, Lehman, Azinger, Stewart, Faldo, Norman, Montgomerie, etc.
Now, if we just use last week as an example, the four players who had a chance to take him down were Snedeker, Howell III, Buckles, and Quinney, all in their 20s. Even Snedeker said his dream in golf is to beat Tiger in a playoff at Augusta. So now, we are seeing players out on Tour that look up to him, as an idol and role model.
He has now become very Nicklaus-esque, if you think of Jack in his prime.
As Renton Laidlaw and Warren Humpries say on TGC European Tour telecasts, he is "The Great Man."

I didn't see the Jack era firsthand, but I don't think even he was as dominant as Tiger is today. I think we're seeing the greatest player to play the game in his prime right now. Lucky us!

Geez it must really be hard being a Phil fan right now.... relax!!

I agree this is a very special time in golf. Just like the Micheal Jordan era was a special time in the NBA. It may take some time to realize how special the "Tiger Woods Era" is, after all it's not finished yet. I predicted prior to last years British Open that I felt like Tiger was ready to go on a roll similar to his 2000 season. I'm looking forward to see how it all plays out.

There are a lot of guys I like, Phil's one of them. I'm actually fonder of Tiger than I used to be, also, believe it or not. I just don't need all of the non-golf extraneous footage & coverage. For those of us who have followed golf closely for a very long time, Tiger's various back-stories are a lot of "been there/done that"... just show me some golf. I don't even want to think about what may happen if Elin and his kid travel with Tiger and attend the events. Perhaps TGC & CBS can have a little picture-in-picture view in the upper right hand corner that will never stray from Tiger & his family.. or perhaps 2, one in each upper corner, one for Tiger and one for his family. Something for everyone. Or by then, maybe something interactive, a TigerView if you will, always available where you can flip to all-things-Tiger-all-the-time. They could even use it when he's not playing that week... to follow him around skiing or bungee-jumping or shopping.... whatever. I'm sure that the technology is there.
