Oh come on at least Tiger did not orchestrate and have his family run to him on the green like Phil does. Tiger is a very private person and is hardly an attention seeker like Phil. If the TGC want to show Tiger, they have aright to do so. Paying over $250million a year to air the pga gives them the right to do so. Of course there’s the one option, you can turn off. They rely on viewing figures so maybe if all those against this turn off they might lose viewers. I hardly doubt this of course. Ratings continue to go up when Tiger is on TV don’t blame them they are in the business of making money and Tiger sells. Lets get one thing clear TGC, CBS et al have the number 1 objective of making money and nothing else. Personally, I say the more the show Elin the better!

I don't even want to think about what may happen if Elin and his kid travel with Tiger and attend the events. Perhaps TGC & CBS can have a little picture-in-picture view in the upper right hand corner that will never stray from Tiger & his family.. or perhaps 2, one in each upper corner, one for Tiger and one for his family. Something for everyone. Or by then, maybe something interactive, a TigerView if you will, always available where you can flip to all-things-Tiger-all-the-time. They could even use it when he's not playing that week... to follow him around skiing or bungee-jumping or shopping.... whatever. I'm sure that the technology is there.

BTW, this IS how I relax.
You do realize that Phil's wife and kids are attention getters as well, don't you? If one of your faves has been doing it for the last 6 years, then don't whine BEFOREHAND about whether Tiger's wife and kid are shown on camera in the future.

As another poster mentioned, Tiger is pretty private and potentially won't even want his kid known by the media at all. There are stars out there who do this. One of my favorite actors, Christian Bale, has done this recently with a daughter he and his wife had in 2005. They refuse to give her name or anything and have hidden her from the media, which is a great thing in my opinion.

My some of some of Tiger's fan's feathers certainly ruffle easily. And what's with all of the Phil-bashing from some of you guys ? I honestly don't see the parallels. How does he fit in with anything I originally posted about Tiger ? It's almost a knee-jerk reaction for some of you. I wasn't blaming Tiger. Just stating my opinion that I don't need all of the Tiger-related fluff. I don't care if they show all of his shots. I think they should. I love watching him hit the ball. I like watching many of the guys hit the ball. More golf shots -> good, more Tiger's world "Up Close and Personal" -> not so much. There are golf fans, golf & Tiger fans and then just Tiger fans. I wish the coverage would lean more towards pleasing the 1st 2 groups and less towards the latter. They're not going to stick around when Tiger fades from the scene anyway. I know that I can turn it off. I know that TGC has the right to show as much Tiger as they choose. I know that Tiger has nothing to do with the coverage of him(I never claimed he did). A flair for the obvious....

I completely agree with you about them not needing to show every movement TW makes. It was that statement about his wife and future kid that I found kind of funny coming from a Phil fan. Phil's family has been getting all kinds of attention all the time, and yet you haven't been complaining about it. That's all I'm getting at. What's fair is fair, and if you're going to complain about the media attention for one, you might as well complain about the media attention for the other because Phil's family is probably the most famous in golf after all the camera time they've had from the media.

They should only show the golf in my opinion. I think pretty much everyone is in agreement on that point, correct?

OK quick idea--The Tiger Network. We just film him all day long and no one else,,,,,,,,, We already have all the commercials we need. We can hire the woman that left the golf channel when that Inge woman took over (ghastly) It cant miss. I would say we can do a Phil Network, but dont you think it will fold right when ratings week hits????????? HA

Absolutely ! But you see, I'm not a "Phil Fan". I root for a lot of guys, depending upon the event, circumstances, who's playing, etc. He's one of them. Tiger has never been a personal favorite of mine for a variety of reasons. I don't really want to get into them or turn this into a Tiger-bash (as opposed to an all-Tiger-all-the-time, Tiger coverage bash). I'm sure you've heard all of the reasons before, anyway. Honestly I've warmed up to him the past year or so. Maybe it's the marraige, impending fatherhood, his dad's death .. whatever. I think he's matured in some aspects that I used to find less than attractive. Maybe I can relate to him more as he's moving into a phase of his life that I can more appreciate. It seems that any criticism surrounding Tiger brings out this whole Tiger vs Phil thing from many of his fans, though. I don't think that you can honestly say that coverage of Phil and his family is anywhere near that of Tiger's. I'd bet the house that they'll break into coverage on many stations when Elin delivers. But I digress... I'm sure that you can understand why some don't root for Tiger (think NY Yankees, even before they were buying up all of the talent), just as I can understand why some don't root Phil and his Kodak family with all of their blond hair, sparkling smiles and gleeming teeth.

The thing is, I am a Phil fan nearly as much as I am a Tiger fan and enjoy watching Phil whenever I can. I do not, however, enjoy the coverage surrounding HIS kids. I like seeing his wife on TV. She's hot (nearly as hot as Elin), especially considering she's had 3 kids. If rooting for Tiger is like rooting for the Yankees, then rooting for Phil must be like rooting for the Red Sox. I despise both those baseball teams but love both golfers.

Hmmmm, maybe there is something to this....

Maybe I took such a liking to Tiger's dominance to make up for my frustrations with the Red Sox (until 2004 of course...)
