Birdie, Birdie, Birdie, Birdie through 4 holes, i know id love to see him reach the heights again.
i dont often post threads about 1 golfer, but was shocked when i looked on PGATOUR.COM.
Duval is leading so far, Tiger Woods is last. any bets that it is the complete opposite come sunday??
Looks like a good start. I hope he can keep it going.
That's the key, Duval got off to decent start last year but floundered in the middle and later parts of the season. He put five decent rounds together last week. I'm pulling him to have another good tournament. A string of four or five tournaments where he makes the cut and has top 25 finishes would validate a definite comeback.
I had heard that Duval is not such a nice guy but he seems to be polite and very centered when you see him play or be interviewed. I hope he does well.
Go David!! 66 to start...admittedly, on the easier North Course, but hopefully he can hold it together on the South or push forward. I'd love to see him near the top of the board this weekend.
Interesting short article in one of the LA papers today on Duval.
SAN DIEGO - Once upon a time, David Duval was the world's top-ranked player. It seems like eons ago, but it was just five years ago when he won the British Open. Then his game went in the tank in a well-publicized meltdown.
This year, he's playing on a one-time exemption because he's in the top 25 on the career money list. The way he's talking, he might not need an exemption to stay on tour next year.
He just doesn't think anyone is noticing.
"I feel like my swing and my golf game is better than it's been, certainly in many years," he said Wednesday at the Buick Invitational. "You know, nobody wants to seem to hear it, but I dare say it's better than it ever was.
"I feel like over the course of the last few years, I've learned a lot about what it takes for me to play well, what truly are my fundamentals, and I think having such a good grasp of that has made me that much more confident and comfortable in what I'm doing."
