3 strokes behind after the first day is nothing to make up for Tiger. He thrives on charging and making up what he is behind on the weekend.
i wouldn't be worried about Tiger normally, but Els is right in there, i think Els is probably favourite at the moment (not on paper, but on past form around the course) aslong as he isn't in Tiger's group on the weekend that is.
Leaderboard is starting to take great shape.
Casey and Clarke are moving up, Ernie is making a move and a couple of young guns are leading. Tiger has a 67 to go with his 68 after a poor putter performance for a second time. If his putter warms up over the weekeend , it could get very interesting.
Qulity of the field can be measured by those who miss the cut.So far it looks like Ferrie,Garcia ,Monty and Howell will all miss the cut.
The play in Dubai has been suspended because of possible thunder / lightning. I think this will work to the advantage of the players who have not yet finished the back nine (especially Els) because they get some time off and the wind appears to be calming down as well.
On the 13th, Woods fell to his knees and bludgeoned the ground with his club in frustration after a chip for an eagle dribbled a few inches from the hole. He settled for a birdie. (ESPN.com)
Seems a bit extreme. Bludgeoned, to me, is what happened to Joe Pesci at the end of Casino.

Is it me or does it seem that Sergio seems very lackadasical about his golf game? Howell has had some back problems and it's obvious he's not on form. He's barely missed some putts in his second round. Monty had a good opening nine in his second round and he might actually slip into the weekend.
I'd think that it beats the rather hopeless prospect of being 3 behind him.
This guy, Ross Fisher has REALLy put together two solid rounds of golf. His ballstriking and putting have really been great. It will be interesting to see how he responds this weekend when the pressure is on and guys like Ernie Els, Henrik Stenson, Miguel Jimenez, and Tiger all within 5 strokes of him.
It must be a terrifying spot for a pro golfer to have only a three stroke lead on Tiger after one round.
I don't think the guys on the European Tour are quite as intimidated by Tiger as some of the younger PGA Tour players. You've got guys like Jimenez, Stenson, and Els that have had success playing against Tiger in the past and they are more experienced players. If any of these guys get to the top of the leaderboard Tiger has his work cut out for him.
