Large Field alot of great names.......I never had the chance to go to tour event. I want to go really bad but I cannot find any friends that want to go. So I guess I am gonna have to hit it up alone.
Any good tips on parking or any other knowledge I should know before heading out?
I won't be going, but I'd be curious on your reaction to the greens. They interviewed Rees Jones on TGC and he said they were going to make the greens more Augusta like. 13 on the stimp, undulations, shaved rough around the greens leading to hazards, etc.
I went to the pro-am yesterday - the course was in really nice shape. There are a bunch of good players in the field (lots of quality Euros over here for next week's Masters).
Due to the layout of where you come in, one and 18 are the only holes that are close, so they will be crowded. You will have to walk down either hole, cross the bridge, and pick out your path for the rest of the course. Since you have never been, you have a few options: you can follow some of your favorite players or camp out in a good location (usually near a green). I typically will follow a couple of guys for a few holes, then let a few groups come through, then follow someone else.
Wear sunscreen.
Unless you have a parking pass, you will need to use the park and ride from Greenspoint Mall - not sure if they have the parking facility at Humbel Civic Center this year.
On a side note: Took my 3 year old. Parker McLauchlin went out of his way (we were watching him with Charlie Hoffman, Eric Axley and a couple other playing a putting game), as he walked over and singed my boy's souvenir flag. As we was leaving via cart to be shuttled to his starting hole, he saw him again and had the cart turn around to come and give him a high-five. This is a true class act you don't see out of many touring pros anymore. I know this is outside of the thread subject, but we wish him well on tour.
I'm hittin up the final round on Sunday with my father and uncle. I plan to take some pictures of the course and see if I can get an autograph or two.
This is my second PGA event, I worked at the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana (2 years ago)... now I'm hoping to see it from the otherside and maybe follow some of the players I saw there.

I really enjoy hearing stories like this, considering some of the **** that is going on in sports today.
Thanks, green.

Well I was gonna go today but its a washout around the house. I dont think it would be a good idea too drive thru houston and get up there and they are not even gonna get a round in.
So I guess I gotta wait too next year.
Great trouny going on so far. alot tied at the top
The weather was pretty much perfect for walking the course yesterday. I followed David Toms and K.J. Choi for the most part and reallly had an all around good time.
I'd like to see Adam Scott do well at Augusta - he has one top ten there - but it is almost painful to watch him putt sometimes.
Give him credit, though. As bad as he looked on the greens on Friday, he turned it around with a bogey free weekend. What a roller coaster final hole that was!
He is a terrific ball striker and I suspect he will be a top five golfer for another decade.
