Well, I'm actually in Seoul, Korea right now. Seoul is 5 hours behind Hawaii right now but I don't remember if Hawaii is 5 or 6 hours behind Eastern time right now. It's 12:30 AM here in Seoul.
Terrible start for Ernie. 4-over thru just 4 and the tougher holes are yet to come. An even bigger surprise to me is the disappointing start for Ogilvy.
Watched TGC for a couple minutes during lunch. Justin Rose moved to two under through five, and Peter Oosterhuis quipped "Well if he can play the last 67 in even par, I'd say he'll be the winner".
The big names are posting some high scores. I like to see Paul Goydos at one under...love to see him win.
My favorite going in was Stenson, who is playing steadily right now. He seems to have the mental toughness, but we'll see. You have to give Tiger the nod...even though I'd like to see someone else win. Curious to see what VJ can do...
Looking at Phil's scorecard, I wonder if you can prepare too much and if your expectations aren't met it starts to play head games with you. If he can come in at 75 he's still in it.
The Mickelson score doesn't surprise me. He hasn't been playing well, and if you go into Augusta with a cold game, you might as well prepare to make early reservations home. Two guys i thought were going under the radar this week were Goosen and Stenson. Not surprised to see both of them getting off to good starts. We'll see if they can stay there.
