The Mickelson score doesn't surprise me. He hasn't been playing well...
Ditto ... my thoughts exactly. The 'rivalry' between he and Tiger does exist, but the media makes it more hype than reality. Since the '06 U.S. Open, I think that Phil is a very average professional.
Can't bet against Tiger, but it's for sure that Phil won't be a factor.
Wow! Just tuned in and the carnage abounds. Augusta is eating these guys alive! I wasn't expecting these scores. Brett W still playing some great golf. Can he hang all the way to the finish?
When the Masters 36-hole cut is made after Friday's 2nd round, it will be to the Low 44 Scorers plus any ties among the Low 44 plus any player with 10 strokes of the 36-hole lead.
We could have well better than 44 players make Friday's cut. The 1st round leaders are at 3-under. At 4-over, there are 16 players tied for 43rd. When you get to 7-over (10 off the lead), a total of 84 players are at that figure or better.
What's scary is today may have been the easiest day for scoring. Tomorrow the greens will continue to get harder and faster. And then Saturday, wind chills are expected to be in effect all day with winds blowing up to 20mph. I'd take Even Par right now come Sunday.

I wonder if the scores may actually be lower tomorrow? The pins will probably be a bit "friendlier" and the players will now have a much better idea of what is facing them. Though you are correct about the firmness of the conditions increasing. In any event, it should be one of the more interesting Masters we've seen in a while.
Well, Friday action has started! I'm a little irritated that I can't watch Masters Live from here. Maybe I need to use a proxy to watch coverage of Amen Corner.
Great! That's what they need: Frozen greens. That should fix the problems of the competitors sticking their balls on the green with great ease and the notoriously easy slow Masters putts!
There are 46 players at +4 or better (Low 44 and ties)
There are 70 players at +6 or better (Plus the 10-shot rule)
Sweeden's Robert Karlsson just completed his 2nd round and now stands at 6-over for 36 holes. He's tied for 55th with 8 other players. 3-under currently leads.
And now, Mr. Karlsson waits to see what his weekend plans are.

Tiger just dumped a ball into Rae's Creek on number 12, now +5. Vijay made the same mistake (short, left of the bunker) but it somehow stayed on the bank.
Wetterich finished at -2, tied with JJ Henry, Vaughn Taylor is even through five, and Zach Johnson is co-leader at -3. Those USA Ryder Cup rookies sure are playing great this week.
