One more comment, none of the pros are whining and most are saying it is a fair test. It is supposed to be the Masters, meaning that only the very best should win there so why shouldn't it be a back breaker.
The only thing that concerns me is that every event is going to be trying to outdo the hardest event and when is it going to stop. You even see regular courses trying to toughen themselves up and being called a tournement course, I have a hard enough time trying to hang in the 80s as it is.

1st: Phil said in an interview yesterday that they did water the greens and he felt the course was extremely difficult but fair.
2nd: The Masters Tournament was developed, according to Bobby Jones, to serve as a "test" of the course. I can only assume he meant to test the course against the best in the game. Whether or not fans come away happily guffawing about eagles or reaching par 5's in two is an entirely different matter. Some years conditions will dictate ease and opportunity beyond other years. Imho, those at Augusta aren't concerned about instant gratification for the crowd, nor for the players.
3rd:The best man will out. And that fact also changes, depending upon the week, as well as the conditions, even though Tiger happens to be that man most often.

My two cents.

I thought the changes were made before 2005. If they were made before last year, it doesn't chnage my argument much. The winning score was -7 or -8 or last year. My main point is sometimes because a course is playing so tough, don't point your finger at the course officials. Point your finger at the man upstairs. Because he was the one who sent the 40 degree temps and 25 mph winds blowing through the Masters yesterday and caused the over par scores. If it's a rainy, calm week like it normally is, my guess -6 or -7 would be winning right now.

I hope the course plays even harder today. I like it!

He's -1 through 8.

Anyways, hopefully the big names get on a run. ie: Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Retief, Furyk. Should be fun to watch.

It seems like today plays a bit easier. I even heard some roars on the Amen Corner web-stream coverage! This doesn't seem to have helped Phil M. so far, who opens with a triple bogey.

This should be a great afternoon, once the coverage starts on CBS! A bit of a disappointment that they don't start Sunday's TV coverage until after all groups have teed off!

Anyone have an issue with Woods being in the last pairing? On the leader board he is listed 3rd behind Rose eventhough they are tied for 2nd. Should they be paired according to the leader board? Do you think that whomever does the pairing are playing to the statistic that most winners were in the last pairing and putting Woods there is unfair? I think it is a mental boost for who ever is in the last pairing because of that stat.

Don't get me wrong I am a Woods fan but I think Rose should have been in the last pairing, not Woods. I guess they are playing to the T.V. viewers. Very disappointed.

Any thoughts?

Woods was in the clubhouse first with his 2nd place total through 3 rounds. That is how he earned his place in the final group. I am not sure how the leaderboard you are watching is 'sorted' but Woods' place in the final group is legit.

Ok yeah I guessed I missed that fact that Woods was in the clubhouse first with his +3. The leaderboard was the one on the Masters web site.

i hate to gripe more, but cbs' coverage already disappoints me. appleby at the 2nd--lands in the bunker, then you see woods primo approach. however, they cut away to go watch jim nantz and nick faldo yuck it up in the clubhouse. then they show appleby has about an 8 foot putt for birdie. they don't show appleby's sand shot which looked like it was going to be very difficult. i'm so glad i got to see nantz and faldo talk casually while apparently a great sand shot was being hit by appleby. thanks CBS. a tradition unlike any other..of poor coverage.

I agree, the coverage is terrible. I'm in California and had to wait until 11am PST for coverage which is pathetic. They wait for all the pairings to tee off which I think it awefull and I the fact that they do that to just follow the leaders (at the time) make me irritated. The way the course has been playing the lead changes over and over and could very well be up for grabs. I could understand if the last pairing were fighting for it but that's not the case, they all are.

Nice take Donzi! We see plenty of birdies every week. It's good to see the pros have something to think about on every hole and have to deal with the consequences of not putting the ball where they want to like everyday golfers do.

I'd sure like to see Zack win this thing. If not him, then Goosen. I guess we'll see if Zack's nerves hold up.
