The Masters have sold there soul to the Golf haters of the world. This was the most painful masters I have ever seen. No charges down the stretch just stretchers for the wounded. It was like watching a US open with not who's going to win it but the ever boring who is not going to lose it. Its not surpising that the new top guys name is billy PAYNE because that was PAINFUL.

Great Masters

This year's Masters Tournament was exceptional. The course conditions were dry and firm, the skies blue, the grass green. There were many people in contention nearly up to the last, including a charge by Goosen, Rose, and, of course, Tiger Woods. I was interested in seeing Palmer's 1960 victory moments, "colorized," as well as Bobby Jones in the Butler Cabin. I had family/Easter obligations on Sunday, so I had to dvr the whole five hours, but when I came home I watched it on my 42" hd until 1AM. This major, in my opinion, is by far the best; can't wait 'till next year's.

This year was an anolamy. Cold Weather, 30 mph winds, and No Rain. Next year it should be back to Warm Weather with calm winds and scores back in the -7 range. But we finally got to see how tough Augusta can be with bad weather & the new changes.

Goosen got a terrible break there at 16. How that ball did not come down that slope still mystifies me. I've seen guys hit it much further right than that and have it come down the slope. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Goosen birdied that hole. Although I think Retief begin to bury his own grave by not being aggressive on 13. With his length and the way he was hitting his irons, he should have had eagle on his mind, not birdie. And by laying up, you put par into the equation, which he got.

Tiger Quote

Hey, does anyone remember what Tiger said exactly after hitting the approach into the bunker on 18? After he asked "What the bleep just happened?" my local paper has him saying, "You said down wind," to SW. I thought I heard him say, "It was straight down wind." Anybody have a definitive answer? Thanks.

I heard him say "you said it was downwind" as well. Then he glared at the caddy.

I heard the comment, and in my recollection he did not chew out his caddie Steve Williams. I think the following quote has it right:

Quote:
When he dumped his approach shot into the water on 15, his chances were dimmed. When his approach on 17 came up just short, it prompted the No. 1 player in the world to yell, "What the **** just happened? Honestly, it's dead downwind."

I think Tiger was equally baffled and wasn't really blaming Steve Williams.

Even so, part of the caddy job is to take some verbal excuse from the player I think and Williams sure gets rewarded handsomely for it.

Well, I guess we won't settle this one. It was 17, not 18 huh. My mind is slowly slipping away. I didn't think he was blaming Steve either. I thought he was expressing shock because he thought it was downwind and the ball didn't behave as he expected. I think it would be a different story if he was trying to blame Steve for that shot than if he was just expressing his frustration at what happened to the shot. No one out there taping the Masters for posterity?

It was hole #17.

Tiger said "What the ---- just happened?" and then said "What the ---- was that, that was dead downwind" a few seconds later.

I believe he was just expressing his frustration at the shot.
