Long time no talk guys. I have been away on vacation and then headed down for Thurs and Fri Masters play. My sister is there Sat and Sun.
I have never seen the greens so fast. We usually always park ourselves at the 4th tee and watch play come up the 3rd and tee off on #4.
After a while of sitting in the shade we moved over to get some sunlight and placed our chairs front row behind the 7th green which is wide open to the sun and wind.
You know the greens are fast when you can actually hear the ball roll and hear the footsteps sort of crunch. They did water the green once while we were there.
Also the course is playing so firm the movers were cutting the fairways from green to tee only. All in one direction toward the tee to slow down roll and for sure the fairways are longer than normal. Augusta National fairways are always a little on the long side. Each fairway shot is almost like the ball is on a tee the grass is so nice but I am convinced the are longer this year to keep driving distance under control.
All I can say is it looks like they have truly created a Masters to remember this year.
One little side note. Seve was scoring very poor but we were watching him on the range and he must have hit 30 or 40 3 or 4 irrons within 15 feet of each other!!!! Still has that great smooth swing.
How awesome!! I just sent out a letter to Augusta to see if I can get on the practice round list. One of the things I look forward to the most when considering retirement (long time from now) is to go to the Masters. Welcome back
