It does seem like a mystery, eh? I knew that Katsuhiro Miura forged his Titleist irons, and I have heard rumors he forges his Nike set as well. Have yet to see that confirmed in print, though. If he does, Nike must have a nondisclosure agreement that prevents him from advertising the fact.
Kind of adds to the whole Woods mystique. Kill Bill fans understand....
Quote:
Hattori Hanzo: What do you want with Hattori Hanzo?
The Bride: I need Japanese steel.
Hattori: Why do you need Japanese steel?
The Bride: I have vermin to kill.
Hattori: You must have big rats if you need Hattori Hanzo's steel.
The Bride: Huge.
On the Web site, it just says that Miura forges clubs for many Tour players though it goes unadvertised. Doesn't specifically name anyone. Says that because Miura doesn't pay them as a sponsor, they shouldn't be able to name drop.
I totally believe he used to forge clubs for Tiger but whether he still does, I don't know. Maybe he does? Maybe he doesn't. I'm sure Nike wouldn't advertise this and any deal between the three (Tiger, Nike and Miura) would be done pretty quietly.
It's pretty neat going from samurai sword forging to golf club forging. I guess when the business climate changes, you have to adapt and Miura definitely found a way to do that.
your not going to find anything in print that says TIGER IS PLAYING MIURA CLUBS. Think for a second how damaging that would be for nike........ Like i said, miura sells the rights for a few copies of his clubs to manufactures. Skeptics abound, but look at his clubs and match them to the design on miura's.
Well, I think that is a pretty good marketing strategy to get a rumor going that Tiger is using Miura clubs. Unless Tiger comes out and says that he is, or it is printed somewhere in a reliable publication by a reputable writer quoting a reputable source, how does anyone "know" who is making Tiger's clubs? Without substantial evidence, how do we "know" any such thing? Sounds like a darn good rumor to me, and it would take more than that to get me to buy anybody's clubs.

lol.... the company, of the 2 being discussed here, that IS trying to get you to buy their clubs is Nike....Miura could care less. Tiger or any golfer of that caliber would NEVER play with inferior equipment such as nike when another, easily accessible, highly marketable strategy existed. This stratgey works for nike, tiger, and miura. On paper tiger IS playing nike clubs. But they were not designed, manufatured, or developed by anyone working for nike co. They outsourced the issue. Like many other companies do. Ultimatly what im trying to get across here is dont get confused that you can buy exact copies of tiger's clubs from nike.
What mizuno just said..i totally agree with..lets face it..NIKE definately isnt the best golf manufacturer in the business and have you ever noticed Tiger never talks equipment..Thats a dead give-away for me..almost every other tour player talks equipment..And you cant play ANY of tigers equipment..ever..he doesnt play the one platinum..the clubs you can buy that are "his"..ANYTHING..maybe the driver..But trust me..theres no way anyone of tour caliber would play with that ****..not dogging Nike..but seriously..theres better out there..

Reason: Please read our language/content policy. thanks
what are you looking for printed materials? please read whole thread. i heard mars exists too....but unfortunatly cant prove this either.
I did read the whole thread. All I see in the thread is a rumor, but you seem to be quite sure that the rumor is true. I was hoping you could explain why you are so sure of this. For example, do you have sources inside the golf-equipment industry? Or did you read about the rumor on another golf discussion board (and you trust the posters there)? Or can you really tell by just looking at the clubs?
LOOK!!!! IF THEY AREN'T MIURAS, SOMEONE IS GETTING SUED!!!
I see a very strong resemblance but I also see some differences, in finish and shape. And there are only so many ways to design a blade iron. It seems possible to me that two designers took a very similar route.
