Lopez's Comeback

I think it is interesting. Part of me says she's a legend and she would be interesting to watch. However, if she is not ready to play, I hate to see her take up a spot as hard as it is for some of the non-exempt people to gain a spot.

You have a point. But she was a great golfer and I don't think her pride would let her play unless she felt she could compete. Though I admit she picked a doozy of a tournament to make her "debut".

The article says she's lost 40 pounds in the past year. Hope to see a good outing from her.

She's not doing too well at the moment. Shot a first round 83. Her front 9 was decent at even par but then she went off and had 47 on the back 9.

She's 3 over after the first 4 holes for the 2nd round.

Comeback? She hasn't been competitive since her runnerup at the US Open ten years ago, so I would think ceremonial appearance is more like it.

I don't think it matters what she shoots, so long as it's not embarrassing in a Doug Ford at the Masters kind of way. Golfing royalty like Nancy gets a well deserved free pass.

Golf fans have been in love with her for 30 years, and nothing that happens this week will dimish that appreciation. I'm glad to see her come out. She's uber competitive and I know on a personal level she really wanted to play better, but she doesn't need to shoot a great score to validate her entry. It's enough just to get a chance to see her smiling on the course again.

I think the best thing about her playing this week is it gives younger players another opportunity to spend time with her. There's a lot to be said for the tradtion in golf of rising stars having the chance to pick the brain of legends. Not exactly Jack paired with Hogan twice in majors in 1960, but I'm sure it means a lot to Pressel, Ochoa, et al.
