2007 Verizon Heritage Thread

I am surprised that thread hasn't begun yet. Some storylines will be interesting to see.

1. How will Zach Johnson do after winning the Masters? Bravo to him for not backing out of his committment.

2. Will Jim Furyk finally win here after being so close the last 2 years?

3. Will Aaron Baddeley defend his title here where he "jump-started" his career?

4. Will someone take advantage of being the first person to win a PGA event to qualify for the Masters since 1999?

Ernie Winning

Could he be the first golfer to officially receive a Masters invitation via the reinstated and modified PGA tour winner's criteria.

Here is the top T10 after 3 rounds. Bad weather is expected for round 4, so the players will tee off in 3somes tomorrow, which puts Els in the final group. Jerry Kelly hit a hole in one during round 3. Zach Johnson seems to be in fine form still, even after a very hectic post-Masters-win week!

1 Jerry Kelly -13
T2 Kevin Na -12
T2 Ernie Els -12
4 Boo Weekley -11
T5 Sean O'Hair -9
T5 Stephen Ames -9
T5 Zach Johnson -9
T5 Stephen Leaney -9
T5 Vaughn Taylor -9
T10 Dean Wilson -8
T10 Rod Pampling -8
T10 Ken Duke -8
T10 J.P. Hayes -8

There is a weather delay, due to high winds. All players have started, but the final group hasn't finished the 1st hole yet, as of 3:20pm. It looks like they won't be able to wrap this one up today.

Boo Weekley is going to the Masters.

Just chipped in on 17 AND 18, both for par.

Greetings ...

Boo just earned himself an early Christmas present.

Masters Invitations are usually mailed out in mid-to-late December.

On another subject, the announcers said that Ernie Els was at a point in his career where finishing 2nd wasn't enough for him anymore.

After last week's dismal Masters performance, and after finishing the Heritage on a lofty (almost glorious) note, 2nd place isn't all that bad.

I think Ernie Els expectations is to win tournaments and majors. Still a good showing but with the way he started out, I bet he's a little disappointed. Hopefully, this tournament was a sign of more good things to come.
