I think if anyone's going to take it, it would either be Vijay or Ernie. The "young guns" have no guts, Adam Scott is too busy trying to be Tiger 6 years ago, Sergio could do it possibly if he would ever just pick a line and putt without listening to all the voices in his head.

Phil could get there for a week or two, but Phil's Phil, and he always will be.

Ernie has the game, and he has it between the ears, too.

Re: Will Phil ever become #1?

Tiger is 31. Vijay is 44. Phil is turning 37 next month. Els is 38.

I think out of the 4, Vijay probably has the most "guts" but I don't know if he's too old. Not saying that he won't continue to be one of the top golfers but I think if someone takes the top spot, Tiger will have to fall off the pace a bit and not win 9 out of 13 tournaments. He's so ahead in the rankings right now, there's no chance anyone could catch him this year.

Els is one of my favorite players so I hope if anyone does it, it's him. He was looking really good before that knee injury but hasn't won in a while.

Re: Will Phil ever become #1?

Yeah, I think one of the things these other guys have to realize is that Veej did it at 41-42 years old by being fit. Ernie seems to take fitness seriously, and though I'm sure Phil is in better shape than he was last year, ain't no way he lost 30 pounds or put on 15 pounds of muscle. That's a story I'm not buying.

Ernie seems fit, Phil seems... un-slender.
