big game, bigger mouth. Usually when its out of proportion as much as in rorys case the ground quickly falls out from under you.
My man Rory certainly ain't afraid to say what he's thinkin'! That's just the kind of attitude you'd need to take on the World's #1. In my opinion, Rory's approach to playing with/against Tiger isn't so much him being cocky as it is him being confident in his own game. Rory has shown respect for Tiger's talent and status by stating his desire to take him on. Most guys seem to shy away or are so in awe of Tiger's talent that they don't perform well when competing against him. True to form, Rory doesn't have that problem.
I gotta admit however---as for "the ground quickly falling out from under"....the 17th definately got the best of Rory today! -2 to +2 in one hole! OUCH!!!
I'd love to see someone (anyone) that has the guts AND the game to give Tiger a run for his money.....I am not a Tiger fan but he has the swagger and the game to go with it...After the first round of the Players Rory made the comment that he would let his clubs do the talking...I'm not sure what his clubs were saying in the second round...
Well it would be nice to see him back up his big talk.
Last w/e he wanted Tiger. Well he got him, shot 74, finished tied for third.
This week he decided after watching Woods grind on Sunday he was more beatable than ever. Had a lot to say after his opening round of 67. After his 79 yesterday he was tied for 38th.
I have no problem with a guy showing some moxy, a little spunk. I wish more guys would have his attitude that Tiger is human, he can be beat if you play well. More competition will only make for a better tour. As good as Woods is, it is disappointing that it seems like Nicklaus had more accomplished peers who could consistently challenge him.
I was in the bleachers behind the 18th green (which also has a view of 17) when Rory walked off toward 18 tee before Crane putted out. I was thinking "what is this jerk doing?". I didn't know at the time that they had been put on the clock twice because of Crane who is ridiculously slow. Even Crane said after the incident that he felt no ill will toward Rory and admitted he had a problem with slow play.
Rory's one of the few guys who speaks his mind and he gets slammed for it. We get the typical canned sound bites from most Tour guys. He plays with a lot of heart and guts and shows a lot of emotion, I enjoy watching him.
he made a lot of comments about tiger after his win at colonial. that time, he made it clear to the media that he was joking around. i also find it refreshing.
