There are 29 players under par. There were some low scores today: Tomorrow should be interesting!
Needs to ... dream the impossible dream. For those in Tiger withdrawal on Saturday, don't expect to see Woods' face on your TV screen much during the final round, either. Here's the deal: He needs to shoot 58 ... and have none of the leaders even break par. That's not only a 15-shot swing from the third round, it'd be the best score ever in PGA Tour history. In other words, it ain't happening.
Needs to avoid ... Phil Mickelson. Hey, Tiger doesn't play many final-round early tee times, so it might be kind of awkward if he's walking into the locker room just as Mickelson is heading to the first tee.
Phil looked phenomenal today---very controlled and steady. I was quite impressed - he really deserved this win.
Also, cudos to Butch Harmon. It certainly looks like he's on his way to "building" another great champion!
This will probably seem rather petty to most of you, but did any of you find it odd that the engraver 'handwrote' Phil's name on the glass and then engraved it? It wasn't even centered for crying out loud! I would have expected his name to be perfectly engraved on a piece of crystal like that. Did anyone else notice that? Or maybe I'm just OCD?
It really looked kinda cheap given all of the trouble that they go to to make everything else look perfect, IMO.
I love the entire Phil/Tiger, Butch/Hank drama! I hope Phil keeps his game on track and Tiger fine tunes his in time for the US Open. That should make for some of the highest ratings in golf history. Throw in the resurgence of Els (I know he hasn't done much yet), Vijay playing well most of the time, the young guys that have been performing well recently, it is shaping up to be a super year in golf!
