What's his place? Only one of the top golfers in the world? That's pretty good to me.
I think the sports media really need to get a grip on this whole thing. It's like they are trying real hard to stir something up here.
The other thing that's really getting annoying is the 'Tiger coverage'. I like Tiger Woods and what he's done for the game, but they really need to get off this treating him like a god thing, it's ridiculous and becomes rather silly at times.

He's the best player in the world. Even though everyone gets tired of hearing about the same guy over and over, I think it's only natural that he's going to get the most coverage. Kinda like Michael Jordan during his prime.
At least he's got the guts to say it aloud. I think it's great he wants to go after Tiger. He's got some moxy and a lot of skill to boot. Alot of these young guys nowadays back down or are afraid of Tiger. They should be going after Tiger and saying it out loud. Good on Rory
Yes, more golfers should feel confident against Tiger...however, can they actually compete with him through Sunday? You can pay your pathetic support to Rory to speak his mind and yet...he really did lose that so-called confidence that you say he had to begin with, didn't he? Why is everyone against Tiger? He has brought more people from more diverse backgrounds into the world of golf in today's society. The people who are against him and the people who want him to fail are the saddest individuals of all. If Tiger were not in this sport, ratings would decrease incrediby as well as a lack of interest among every ethnic background. You may get sick of Tiger winning and want others to have a chance, which I understand...but the fact of the matter is, he is in his own element that no one at his current age right now can compete. Be happy for Tiger and be happy for what he has accomplished in the world of golf. Don't search for reasons to despise him.
So what if Rory speaks his mind? He looks like a chump at the moment, now, doesn't he? If he would shut his small-minded mouth, maybe he could accomplish something.
Oh, and in response to the above remarks...Sabbatini lost by oh...just a few shots back at Bridgestone, right? Rory finished even, correct? And Tiger (-8)! I feel bad for Justin Rose for having to share his second place title with such a poor loser. Keep mouthing off and you'll keep playing like you do, Rory.
By the way GENERAL...it's spelled a lot, not alot. Give Tiger a break. He's proven himself and will continue to do so.

Rory Sabbatini's comment about him being as beatable as ever isn't the apocalyptic, heinous act that is being inflated on this site. He didn't say he's going to kill Tiger. He didn't say he's going to burn down his house. He didn't say he's going to steal his newborn baby. He said Tiger is as beatable as ever. People need to remember that this is a golf forum website and not a PGA Tour/Hollywood gossip blog. Those are the closed minded people.
I think there is nothing wrong with wanting to beat Tiger, or talking about it. The problem is when you make smart aleck comments like "I like the new Tiger" insinuating that inspite of two 2nd place finishes in majors and 3 now 4 wins on tour this year, his skill is declining. You can have what I like to call "quiete confidence" or you can say stupid things and give him more reason to beat you. If I was going to talk smack to Tiger I would wait until after I beat him. Humility goes a long way. You should definitely respect his game whether you like him or not. I have no problem with expressing your desire to win, or to beat Tiger, I just think that Rory goes about it in an arrogant, cocky way that makes him come off looking like a jerk.

I don't personally have a problem with what Rory said. If that's what gets him going, then fine.
What I do have a problem with is having a fan thrown out after getting called out on his statements. He talked about the lack of decorum and class on the part of that spectator, yet his wife wears t-shirts that 'attack' his fellow players. He could have handled that spectator with a lot more class by simply turning to him and saying in response "maybe Tiger's not beatable today!".
The other thing is it is well known that competitors like Tiger and Michael Jordan are world class grudge holders, as Stephen Ames and Rory himself found out in the past. Why add fuel to the fire, and give Tiger any more motivation than he had already?

I agree. That fan should not have been thrown out.
It was reported that the fan said "Hey Rory, is Tiger still beatable?"
The fan did not curse or threaten Rory. I am sure that other golfers have had to deal with much worse heckling on the course. For Rory to react to that fan the way he did shows how humiliated he was by the beating he took from Tiger.
