Rory Sabbatini gets put in his place.

I thought this was funny and Rory Sabbatini's comments about Tiger totally back-fire to Rory.

Rory: "Tiger Woods is more "beatable" than ever."

Tigers response: "If I remember the quote correctly, he likes the new Tiger" "I figure I've won 9 of 12 PGA Tour events, and I've won 3 times this year -- the same amount hes won in his career, so I like the new Tiger aswell."

Lol.

I think his Friday belt buckle weighed him down and made him off balance.

At least he's got the guts to say it aloud. I think it's great he wants to go after Tiger. He's got some moxy and a lot of skill to boot. Alot of these young guys nowadays back down or are afraid of Tiger. They should be going after Tiger and saying it out loud. Good on Rory

Re: Rory Sabbatini gets put in his place.

Heres my take.... If i was on tour you half to believe that you could beat tiger or you shouldn't be out there. And i would make this known publicly.... WHEN ASKED!!!! I wouldn't eat up my only time in the spotlight to call out another professional publicly. Its not good business.. Example of how it should have been handled...

Reporters: Mr. mizuno, you had a great round today. how do you feel about tiger lurking closely behind you.

Mizuno: Everyone in this field is highly talented and the trophy is up for grabs to anyone. I hope the position of tiger on the leader board propels me to continue to play well, we all know his track record under pressure. I am swinging very well this week and believe i can hold him off if i continue to play my game. Ultimately I need to make tiger and the others come get me not the go back to them. I wish him and the others well this week and want to tell tiger publicly congratulations to the new family. Thank you.

Re: Rory Sabbatini gets put in his place.

As Gary Player and Lee Trevino say about waking up a sleeping Bear referring to Nicklaus. I think Sabbatini is only motivating Tiger. After what happened to Stephen Ames in last year's match play talking about Tiger's errnat driving, Ames got trashed 9 aand 8 vs. Tiger.

Nothing wrong with thinking about beating Tiger. I just don't think Sabbatini was smart, because he will be a bullseye for Tiger (maybe more so than VJ or Phil).

Re: Rory Sabbatini gets put in his place.

It's a tough subject here. Probably, the only player on Tour that you can't talk about is Tiger because you will be no where even close to Tiger at in career stats. Also, Tigers record in the last year will also be much better than yours.

I think players should be more confident up against Tiger. I like that he is but I think he made the wrong comments. To say that he likes the "new Tiger" when he's gone out and won 9 out of his last 12 PGA Tour starts is pretty ridiculous.

You might be on to something there. Wasn't/Isn't Stephen Ames a Nike staffer as well? Is Nike becoming the Don King of golf?

Nike likes Don King. They have to sell him three hats just to cover his hair

Sounds like no matter what you say about TW it will always be misinterpreted. If you say he's the greatest and unbeatable, then commentators will say you set yourself up for defeat. If you say you want him, one-on-one, you're being arrogant.

Tiger beat sabbatini by one shot.

If Sabbatini makes the President's Cup, I'd be interested in a Sabbatini/Woods singles match...

Re: Rory Sabbatini gets put in his place.

That was a stupid comment. You have to know your place on the food chain. When a C list player talks smack about the world number 1, it just looks ridiculous. It would be a little different if a top 5 said it, although it still was not well thought out.

He's won 9 out of his last 12? And Blabattini is saying he's "beatable?"
