Did Michelle ever really want to join the LPGA? I've never heard of anything like that. I remember when there was speculation over it but nothing about the Wie camp ever asking the LPGA commissioner to let her in. The last paragraph I quote below also says the LPGA would probably let her in even though she's not 18 yet.
I've seen a numerous Pro-Am where the pro is so ****** at something ( Not playing well, Too Hot, AM playing too badly ) and not talking to his/her partners. Except a few nice ones ( VJ, Corey, Freddy, Lee Trevino, Ben Crenshaw etc.. ) many pros can really be nasty or cold. It is unbelievable that AM Partners complained about Pro not being cordial. Very unusual unless she cursed at them which is unthinkable..
We have all seen the next superstar flame out amidst the pressure and microscopic attention they receive. I know when ESPN started to televise Lebron James high school basketball games that I thought I was going to witness another wonderchild meltdown.
Perhaps some of us even knew extremely talented athletes that we thought were a shoo-in for a professional career only to find that years later that "promise" is just not enough.
Wie is an extremely talented golfer but its a shame that she didnt have the same mentoring that Tiger had as he came up through the ranks. I think she got too much, too soon but I don't hold her responsible for those things. If Nike wants to drop a million dollars in her bank account, more power to her. She is not the first, nor will she be the last as sports companies compete for the next Tiger.
Eventually (hopefully) she will move out from under the tightfisted control of her father and find an advisor that really cares about her. Sean OHair is a good example of what can happen once an athlete turns that corner.
Reading all the news about Wie brings to my mind the movie "Bull Durham" where Kevin Costner is the old pro telling the young hotshot how to handle the press. I don't remember the exact line but it went something like just say: "Sure thankful to be here and I hope I can help the team." That's about all a young player needs to say. Humility, respect for the game and thankfulness for the opportunity to play would serve Wie well at this time. Just my two cents....
Alright, I watched Golf Central on the Golf Channel last night and saw all this reporting on Michelle Wie. As I'm sitting there watching this, my only thought is 'why?'. Why is so much attention being paid to someone that can't compete at this level? I just don't get it. Why not focus on something like 'will Gulbis win her first major' or something like that. Even seeing this Wie person talk, I just don't get why so much attention is paid to her. They showed plenty of her shots over and over and they're all shanks. I suppose I could see if this was some hot blonde bombshell or something and they're taking a sex appeal angle on it, even though I don't agree with that, I could understand that.
Anyway, here's one person that hopes this is the last reporting on her I'll ever have to see. She obviously isn't good enough if she has to fake injury to avoid a high score.

Channels like TGC and other's know you will watch... that will get them advertising bucks... make their sponsors verrrry happy...
Even negative news is better than none at all... MW even said that in her interview with TGC.

But I don't want to watch, that's my point. And frankly the only reason I did was because of the lack of interesting alternatives. Why do they think we should give a hoot about Wie? I don't. Show some of these other lady golfers, they're far more interesting, and can actually carry on an intelligent conversation. She sounds like a dumb kid when she talks.

Because she is supposed to be the "Tiger Woods of Female Golf"... a female Child Teenage Prodigy, the next Big Sensation in golf, "The Making of a Champion", she will be under the microscope for all to see.
All eyes and cameras were on the Eldrick patrol in his early years, and it will be the same for MW. She will either become the Greatest woman golfer in history, or fold into the mix of one-hit-wonders.
You are of the few that don't care.
Her devout followers will be on their knees when she birdies, and they will also cheer her on no matter how bad she does.

Who the heck ever called her the female Tiger Woods? (they surely must have lost all credibility) At least Tiger won three straight amateurs to earn the attention he got.
Interesting article. Until now i felt kinda sorry for Michelle, and was hoping all the ground that moves beneath her is her father/sponsor`s work.
After reading the article i just hope she makes a +XX in the first and second round and dont make the cut. Talk about alittle brat she manages to portray of herself all on her own.
I heard the Wietard just added a Nike foot wedge to her bag. I dont ever recall seeing other Pro's parents running along side. Im surprised BJ which are appropriate initials for this clown doesnt go drop her ball in the fairway for her and do on course diaper changes...

That's because they are not 17 years old. They've done this since she was 12.. It's the habbit hard to shake off especially when she's making 40+ millions a year. Wouldn't you do that if your daughter is 17 and making that much money? You'd probably do more than that..
lets stop making excuses for her already she should earn her right to play like everyone else. If my kid was making 40+ million a year I would be passed out on a beach not running all over a course..
Well, she missed the cut today - 3 over for 2 rounds. Better, but not good enough.
Actually, she has not missed the cut yet, only one person still on the course needs to drop a shot and fall from +2 to +3 and she (and everyone else at +3) will make the cut. I'd say the odds are that she WILL make the cut.
