Re: US OPEN: Would you bet the field or Tiger?

Since it's playing as a Par 70, I would take the field.

But I'd still take Tiger in any tournament he tees it up at if I could only pick one.

Re: US OPEN: Would you bet the field or Tiger?

same as bpc. if i can only pick one player, i'll take tiger week in and week out.

if i have to choose between tiger and the field, i'd probably go with the field week in week out, though i would have been wrong quite a bit in the past year.

What odds do I get? If it's striaght up, then it's a no brainer to pick the field.

Haven't spent much time at the track, eh?

From the Racebook Glossary:

Quote:
Field 1) All the runners in a race. 2) Some sportsbooks or bookmakers may well group all the outsiders in a competition under the banner headline of 'Field' and put it head to head with the favorite. This is known as favorite vs the field betting and is common in horse and golf betting

The field.....regardless if par is 70 or 72 - that makes no difference.....even if there are fewer par 5s. The guy with the lowest score still wins.

well, if we're going to bet on the field, as in the course, how would you bet?

winning score:

1. under par
2. over par
3. even par (we'll give 8 to 1 odds on this)

Agreed.

Tiger does his worst on par 3's and his best on par 5's.

Only one par 70 major win at Bethpage, and they have the rough out in the fairways as far as 250-270 yards giving the long hitters the edge.

Have to go with the field. I'd actually go with the field in every tournament and if I did, I would have lost more than I won since Tiger has won so many of his starts in the past year.
