I know his life is a train wreck, but I honestly feel sorry for this guy.
Quote:
While I slept at home last night, I was the victim of an assault by my wife. This morning, I filed a complaint with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. They are investigating, and I'll have no further comment on the matter while they pursue their investigation. My only concern at this point is for the safety of my children and myself, and we are working closely with local authorities and PGA TOUR security officials to assure appropriate safeguards.
I saw on TGC telecast when I got home today he has visible abrasions on the right side of his face (presumably from the attack).
Yesterday he made five straight birdies on the back 9. He's even par for the day, T14th. I have no idea how he can even concentrate, but maybe the golf course is his refuge.
I don't really feel sorry for him because he is ultimately in charge of his own decisions. It's always sad to see a domestic affair like that. I know they were considering filing for divorce before. I hope that comes to fruition.

How is he in charge of what happened? He was sleeping in his home at the time.
Sounds to me like the booze is in charge of his life with predictable insane results. He needs to put the bottle down and come back to form before he completely destroys his life and the lives of those around him. At his current pace, just a matter of time until a true tragedy occurs. So sad to see it playing out.
I haven't read his book (and never will), but I heard the title of one chapter is "All my ex's wear Rolexes" - apparently, also the title of a song he wrote.
I heard a radio interview with Rick Reilly a few years ago when he was promoting his book "Who's Your Caddy?". He said while he's every bit the outrageous redneck you would expect him to be, he's also the most genuine soul you'll ever meet. What you see is what you get.
Dude's life is a complete mess, and yes he made his own bed - but I still root for the guy and hope nothing but the best for him.

Earlier in this thread, I said that his actions are probably to blame for a lot of the negative events in his life. With that said, I do think he's a genuine nice guy even though I've never met him. Hearing that story of how he set up the trust fund after he won his first British Open showed me how big of a heart he has. That's why I root for him but at the same time something like this happens, I don't feel sorry for him.
I feel bad for him, not because of his score today. but i feel bad for him, because of the scratches in his face..did you guys see what they looked like...jeez
Was at the tourney and he looked liked ****. The scratches were really deep. Was at a restraunt and his merchandise trailer was there during the rain delay on Friday. Big John came out to go back to the tourney after he got the call play would resume in 1 hour he looked rough. You have to feel bad for the guy because he seems like a good guy.

Yes he might be a party guy, but nobody deserves that.
I think it's impossible to say he didn't deserve it. Non of us know what happened before she attacked him as he was waking up. Maybe he didn't deserve it, and maybe he beat his wife before he went to sleep. With a drunk like Daly, who knows what might have gone on? I don't feel sorry for him at all. He's a man with a lot of talent at golf, and he's wasted most of his life by drinking a gambling his money away. I don't feel sorry for him, and I don't root for him either. As for being a nice guy, I don't think so. He's known for sleeping with just about any female he can get his hands on, I don't believe a NICE married man does that all the time. Sure, he's a fun loving guy and he might be fun to party with, But a NICE guy? Not even close.
He certainly looked depressed! Its to bad because hes kind of the flagship of that tournament. I just hope his kids didnt witness that!! I think JD would be better off single..
