worked as a walking scorer this week at whistling straits. hhad the pleasure of scoring for Tom Watson and Loren Roberts yesterday. Wow Ton Watson is the perfect gentleman. After round gave me ball he holed on 18 and signed it. A greay guy. totally awesone experience.
That's nice to hear, what a special memory that will always be for you.
I first observed Watson at the 1974 Western Open at Butler National. Everyone knew then the kid had a load of talent, but he wasn't a closer then. Sure didn't take him long to learn how to be one, though.
Tough day for him out there today. He just doesn't play enough anymore, isn't in that position often - this is the second straight year he's gone to the 10th tee on Sunday with the lead at the US Senior Open.
I have no doubt he was every bit the gracious gentleman after the day was over, though. Arnie, Jack and Tom set the bar pretty high when it comes to losing gracefully.

Sounds like a great experience, too bad that he faded down the stretch. Great guy.
I met him at the 2003 US Open where I worked as a volunteer.....great guy and a very emotional tournament.....
Yeah, that was something....one of the very best moments in golf ever.

A memorable moment in Watson's career came at the 2003 U.S. Open, when, at age 54, he took the opening-round lead by shooting a 65 with his longtime caddy Bruce Edwards carrying his clubs. The latter would succumb to Lou Gehrig's disease on April 8, 2004 at the age of 49.
