steve has been consistently at the top of majors lately, but can never finish. he even lost it for a few years in the late 90's and early 00's. coming from wisconsin and having met steve a couple times, playing with him once...it's sort of unbelievable that he's able to compete at the majors so well
The man is the consumate (sp?) journeyman golfer, and has made millions over the years without ever grabbing a major title. In other words, he ain't half bad.
after Saturday seeing how emotional he was in his interview, I had that much more hope that he could pull it out, but it wasn't meant to be I guess.....Stricker is a very good golfer, but seems to be even better a person....
i think i came across like i didn't like him, that's not the case at all. it just seems to me that he plays his best golf during majors and sort falls off for the rest of the year...i really hope he can pull out a major one of these times
Steve Stricker's Barclays-Westchester win was a breath fresh air for folks like me who are interested in good (sometimes great) golf matches - and NOT NECESSARILY wacky campaigns like the Fed Ex Cup.
One little item which isn't receiving attention .. as indicated by PGA Tour Exemption Category 9, it appears that the reward for winning a Fed Ex Cup Playoff Event is the standard 2-year exemption. I am assuming that the Tour Championship winner will still get a 3-year exemption.
