Sergio's weekend performance has brought discussion on him to the forefront the last couple of days, among comments were about his lifestyle. I found it interesting because one of the comments were that 'he lives a wild party lifestyle and has a lot of women' and another that said he's 'rather tame and hasn't even had a girlfriend yet'. With most things the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle, but that's a pretty big middle. Anyone know the truth?
No idea, who knows what to believe about any celebrity?
I have two famous actors living on my block, big box office names with numerous awards. One day I read about how the man had a wild weekend in L.A. in the company of so-and-so, so he must be splitting up with the mother of his daughter. Juicy stuff, except we were in the same restaurant as them on the night he was supposedly out cheating on his girl, 3,000 miles away.
I have read a lot of stories about Sergio having a different girl every month/week/night, but who cares? He can golf his ball. Just missed this week, but I felt like he matured a lot as a competitor this week, despite the failure and the excuses afterward.
It's the same thing with Tiger Woods and his supposed cheapness. OK, when he was 21 and nouveau riche, he went a little light with the service crowd. Except he was in NYC one day for a promo last year, and by pure random chance, I saw his limo driver in a bodega the next day telling about what a prince the guy was, handing out $100 bills like they were party favors to anyone who opened a door or carried a bag. So which do you believe? And why would anyone care?
I do not envy the famous whose lives are under a microscope 24/7. One slip up, even when it is out of character, can ruin you in the eyes of some. I once saw Ernie Els treat young fans brusquely at the US Open. Does that make him a mean guy? No, just a human being who had a bad day. I have heard enough good stories about the Big Easy that I don't let a 10 second episode define who he is.
I would say 'who cares' or 'what does it matter' for the most part too, except that in this case golf is such a mental game, especially putting (his weakness), that if you have a lot going on off the field, it could certianly affect your golf performance, maybe more than any other sport.
I know a few things for a fact about Sergio, from talking to a writer that is a very good friend of mine:
- With girls, he'd give out his phone number to random hot girls on the golf course, and then hook up with them later that night. Kudos to him for that. I'm somewhat jealous. But that's prolly why he's not in a relationship. He's looking for a ONS.
- He's not really well-liked on Tour. Phil and Tiger have a better relationship than Sergio and Tiger. Players see him as immature, and the spitting in the cup incident didn't sit well with the players. He's got friends on Tour, don't get me wrong, but from what i was told, he has more enemies than friends.
- He's a bit of a headcase. And a lot of that has to do with not winning as much as he'd like to win. The screw-ups in the final round of majors is mentally hurting him, and even though i'm not a fan of the guy, i have a feeling that this past weekend is going to ruin him mentally for a long time and I hate to see that. Not forever, but at least for the rest of the season. He may need a shrink. Hey, Goosen and Els had to get one and look where they turned out.
No idea if Serge's still seeing the Shark's 'little babe'. The question was raised during the telecast but there was no real response. Going by previous comments he does need to settle down a bit if he is to succeed in a big way (ie Majors)

Reason: spelling
I think many of us would be jealous if indeed he was able to just pick up hot golfing women like that! Of course, were it true, it does imply that his mind is not entirely on his golf game!
