Michelle Wie finishes Evian Masters at +16

I have lost any fascination i had with Michelle's golf. A child star yes, going to make the grade no.
Sorry but just my opinion.

It does seem she has lost it... and is certainly not competitive any more.
I wonder how long Nike will hold on to her?

I think it would be interesting to get her into the mens events again - afterall when she was last playing them, she was uninteresting and coming near the bottom of the field. At least now she could gain some interest as everyone watches to hear about the new record high score....

The funny thing is that Johnny Miller wrote just about 3 or 4 months ago in Golf Digest that she has the best swing he's ever seen. It makes me happy to see he's wrong for some reason.

Re: Michelle Wie finishes Evian Masters at +16

Nikki Garrett also finished +16, so what?

I really don't get it, I just don't. Is this some sort of modern cult thing to keep mentioning this Wie person? If we're going to talk about players that finished +16, then why not Nikki Garrett?

Ever since hearing of this Wie person a couple months ago, I've noticed some scores, and have even seen footage of her performance, and quite frankly she *****. From a pro golfer perspective that is. So I checked past history on her to see if maybe she was an Annika Sorenstam that I just haven't heard of, and she's never won anything.

It's getting amusing that her name keeps appearing week after week. Anyone know how much longer this could happen?

She does have a great swing, and it probably is one of the greatest I've seen, but her problem is game management and not being "mature enough" and cofident enough in her own game.

with a reference from Arnold Palmer Quoting
"she's probably going to influence the golfing scene as much as Tiger, or more. She's going to attract people that even Tiger didn't attract, young people, both boys and girls, and families."

i didnt hear Arnold mentioning Nikki Garrett.

Michelle Wie could give up golf today and live a wealthy life, without working another day, due to all her money from sponsors.

here are some examples why Wie has expectations.

# e youngest player ever to qualify for an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament – 10 years, 298 days (2000 Women's U.S. Amateur Public Links)
# The youngest player ever to qualify for an LPGA tournament – Age 12 (2002 LPGA Takefuji Classic)
# The youngest winner (male or female) of an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament – Age 13 (2003 Women's U.S. Amateur Public Links)
# The youngest player to make a cut in an LPGA tournament and major – Age 13 (2003 Nabisco Championship)
# The youngest player to play in a PGA Tour event – Age 14 (2004 Sony Open)
# The lowest round by a female in a PGA Tour event (also the first female to score a sub-70 round in PGA Tour history) – 68 (2004 & 2006 Sony Open)
# The youngest player to play in Curtis Cup history – Age 14 (2004)
# The first female to qualify for a USGA championship that is generally played by males at Pittsburgh sectional for the 2005 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. - Age 15
# The youngest female to make a cut in any professional male tour event - Age 16 (2006 SK Telecom Open)
# The first female to make a cut on the Asian Tour - Age 16 (2006 SK Telecom Open)
# The first female medalist in a men’s U.S. Open qualifying tournament – Age 16 (2006 U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Turtle Bay Hawaii)

Michelle Wie has EXPECTATIONS from people, and quite rightly so with all the hype she has been getting from a young age.

thats why people repeatedly mention her.

Re: Michelle Wie finishes Evian Masters at +16

She broke her wrist. She is playing to maintain her endorsements.
Don't expect a lot from her this year. Don't sell her off completely though. She is young and will recover. Expect next year

Hopefully she will also mature and take charge of her own career (and learn the rules of golf).
