2008 President's Cup

Looks like the first 9 players are locks:

Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Zach Johnson, Charles Howell (ugh!), David Toms, Scott Verplank, Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink

Lucas Glover is currently 10th.

John Rollins and Brett Wetterich are next.

Who will Nicklaus pick if Lucas Glover remains 10th? I hope he goes with Hunter Mahan and Jerry Kelly...

I like the Hunter Mahan pick. Maybe Kenny Perry?

Re: 2008 President's Cup

GF - I feel like the years are rolling by plenty fast enough without you accelerating them...

As for the 2007 President's Cup...

Kelly, Mahan and Perry would all be fine choices.

But based on recent form, I think these four belong in the discussion:
  1. Arron Oberholser (31st)
  2. J.J. Henry (27th)
  3. Sean O'Hair (32nd)
  4. Anthony Kim (51st)

I don't think Jack will pay attention to who is hot as much as PC points, so it will likely be someone warm in the top 16 (Kelly and Mahan).

Re: 2008 President's Cup

I know the President's Cup is a competition, and not a training ground for the Ryder Cup, but I would love to see two young players given the opportunity.

So, any of the following would be good choices for me...

Mahan, Kim, O'Hair, Glover, Henry

Re: 2008 President's Cup

Lucas Glover awaits his fate as he sees how Woody Austin does. Will Woody Austin get at least a share of 2nd and get into the Prez Cup? Willhe be a captain's pick if he doesn't? If Woody passes Lucas, will Lucas get a captain's pick.

I sure hope Nickluas doesn't go with #11 and #12 this year.

Re: 2008 President's Cup

I think Woody Austin got the 10th spot. As for captain's picks, I think one will be Hunter Mahan. I actually kinda like Boo Weekley, but he doesn't know what the Presidents Cup is, according to his interview yesterday. lol. I'd go with Mahan and either Kenny Perry (experience and playing well) or J.J. Henry.

Re: 2008 President's Cup

Have you looked at the president's cup teams. I root for the US, but the US team is in for a world of hurt. The World team is so much better than the US team on paper, but their putting skills are a little suspect. It would take a Phil and Tiger miracle to make the matches competitive.

I predict the world players will beat the US team soundly. I think the World team would give the Europe team a real run for their money as the best golf team right now. As a golf purist, the world versus Europe would be a more interesting match.
