I was listening to his press conference last night, and it's hard to believe some of this stuff. As if the British Open comments were strange enough, last night's were just as strange. To paraphrase some of the things he said:
- He said he only plans to play for 10 years so he can get enough money to retire and fish the rest of his life with his family
- When asked about the Fed Ex Cup, he said he knows nothing about it. They asked him if he plans on playing in the playoffs and he shrugged his shoulders and said "Sure, if I'm invited I'll play."
- Even funnier, when asked if he knew where he stood in the Pres. Cup standings he replied "The What?" Said he didn't know where he stood. If Nicklaus were to ask him to play on the team, he replies "Sure, I guess."
- On the Ryder Cup, he said he doesn't really know what it is, except that he saw some clips of it on TV when he was a kid. Once again, if he qualifies for it he said "Sure, if they want me to play, i'll play."
- Asked about playing in a major, said it doesn't mean anything to him. Said he didn't know this was a major until someone told him earlier in the week. Said all tournaments are the same to him.
It's hard to believe he knows this little about golf. Sometimes you wonder if it's an act, but if it's for real, this is funny stuff how a guy is playing on the golf course that literally knows nothing about the history of the game or what he's playing for. At least he knows who Tiger Woods is, cause he had no idea who the heck Paul Lawrie was.
I hope it's all true...a little motivation for us internet junkies to get off our duffs and go play golf because even if that guy doesn't know anything else, he knows how to play...
While I think he may have been playing to the country boy persona, that he portrays or the media has given him, I have seen him in other interviews and I think he is more of a, "crazy like a fox". But whatever I like him and and enjoy watching him play, he is putting some fun back in the game. For example, the camo underarmour at The Open Championship.
I loved the camo. When I turned on the open though for about 2 seconds I thought he had 2 sleeves worth of tattoos. Then I saw it was Boo Weekley and went oh okay. hehe
Boo's cool. I think he would be one guy who could play Tiger in the final group on Sunday. Not based on his level of play at this time, but his attitude and demeanor. He seems to me like he doesn't give a hoot who he's playing with. Yelling "get in the hole" is annoying to some...what about BOOOOOOO!!! Even better yet..."GET IN THE HOLE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I'm becomin a huge Boo Weekley fan. He's gaining fans almost the same way John Daly did..just by being himself and coming across as a blue collar guy that fans can sorta relate to. Only difference is that Boo doesn't have the reputation Daly does with all the drinking and gambling and divorce.

right on the money with that
hes not trying to impress anyone, he is very unique and thats what i think people seem to love about it.
