My boss was telling me yesterday that as he was watching the PGA Championship and heard something about a ball striking stat? Neither of us could figure out how this is measured. My guess would be that is has something to do combining fairways hit and greens in regulation. Does anyone know how this is measured?

Not sure, but that's all I need is one more thing to type in at the end of the round...
Thanks for the information. I guess I was right. When I think of ball striking, that is not always what I think about. I usually think about a player's ability to make a solid, centered hit. That is something that I don't think can be reasonably measured.
Tiger is 23rd on the Tour in ballstriking. He is #2 in GIR, but 59 in total driving. He is #11 in driving distance, but 161 in driving accuracy, so that will always keep him from being at the top of the "ballstriking" stat.
Yeah, he just doesn't seem to care about hitting fairways sometimes. I don't doubt his strategy, obviously he knows what he's doing.
He just swings like a maniac sometimes with his driver. He sways, he dips, he swings 110%. If he swung like a normal human being all the time, I think he'd hit 65% or 70%.

Yeah, but don't you think hitting the fairway and making GIR come as a result of solid, centered hits?
