Thumbs up The Cup: Let Us Not Forget That Which Is Priceless

Greetings ....

All this talk about money, money, money.

Let us not forget -- If not already so exempt by other means, the winner of the Fed Ex Cup Championship receives a 5-year PGA Tour exemption.

It wasn't so long ago that Steve Stricker was playing the PGA Tour with virtually no exempt status. Now he's in a position to secure his place on tour thru 2012.

KJ Choi, Rory Sabbatini and (albeit, depending on extreme fate) Aaron Baddeley are also in position to capture the Cup and the exemption.

To borrow from MasterCard: Winning a 5-year exemption? Priceless!

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Sport

That is the perk that is so overlooked by the media, but the golfers probably relish more. The 5 year exemption should be mentioned more by the media.

Re: The Cup: Let Us Not Forget That Which Is Priceless

Well, the winner of the Fedexcup must be a heck of a player, someone who has played well in the season and plays well during the playoffs. A player of this caliber does not need 5 year exemption. Would Tiger need exemption? Or Phil. Stricker on the other hand may need a 5 year exemption only because he was not playing well before, but who knows after he won the cup, with all the confidence he may be a force to be reckon with, and thus won't need an exemption either.

The money won't hurt, but to Tiger he would want to win it to bolster his reputation and get back at Phil, imagine if someone else win the Tour Championship but he won the Fedexcup, wouldn't that be funny, two champions. But I bet that he's dreaming of holding two cups at the same time, and be the first ever champion, that to me is his motivation.
