Re: FedEx Cup - anti-climactic

I wonder how much the best doctor in the world makes per year. I also wonder if the best of the best stay in the field, knowing that the real money is in pharamacueticals and medical patents which is really invaluable. What about the replaceability of doctors. Does the every day person need to see the best doctor in the world or will his local surgeon suffice?

I also wonder how much money is spent on entertainment per year versus healthcare (I have my guess but I actually wouldn't be too surprised either way). And yes people could live without any form of entertainment in their lives... but who would want to?

He's a good person and humanitarian, no doubt about it. There's no way he or any other athlete can justifiably make tens of millions of dollars a year.

How about scientists researching the cure for cancer or AIDS? Do you think they make $1,027,000,000? They have a much bigger potential impact on society than a person who plays a game. I'm not singling Tiger out either, look at football, baseball and basketball players, actors, etc... They make tons of money and provide only entertainment to society... not products, not services... entertainment. The American culture places such a heavy importance on trivial things.

Entertainers make more money than doctors, yet if tomorrow all the entertainers were to vanish from earth, life would go on (it might be boring). You can't say the same about doctors, farmers, etc...
I totally agree with you, all I'm saying is that tiger is commited to what he's doing and does that everyday. I know he gets paid too much money, but so does michael schumacher. And yeah cancer researchers probably deserve more money than they get.

I think golf would be better if say, the winning prize on the PGA tour would be $100,000 or less, than we would actually feel bad for the loser in a playoff, or someone who misses the cut because there arent rediculous amounts of money involved.

Re: FedEx Cup - anti-climactic

It would be a hard gulp for the players to swallow to see the purses go down on the PGA Tour. It's too late for that, LOL.

Like you said, it would be more interesting if the players were earning more realistic amounts of money.
