Re: Ball brand count from the Top 30 FedEx Cup Players
Since Tiger made the switch to the Nike ball prior to the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach the major victories per ball manufacturer are as follows:
Titleist - 14
Nike - 12
Callaway - 4
Strata - 1
From the 2005 Masters through the 2007 PGA (noting that 2005 marked the end of the 'Tiger Slump') the breakdown is as follows:
Nike - 5
Titleist - 4
Callaway - 3
Times are most certainly changing. A few players each year move away from Titleist and have for the last six or seven years. That said, with continued improvements by TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Callaway, Srixon, and Nike we'll likely see Titleist's "#1 ball in golf" title go away in a few years.
Re: Ball brand count from the Top 30 FedEx Cup Players
I used to always play the pro v1 as it was head and shoulders above the rest. Titleist seem's to have stood still while other ball manafacturers have caught up and are proceeding to pass titleist. I have now switched to ths Srixon Z-urs,find this to be a better ball, have also tried the taylor made (red and black) these are excellent golf balls also. Maybe Titleist have something up there sleve for next season,or the number 1 ball in golf us about to be replaced.
Re: Ball brand count from the Top 30 FedEx Cup Players
i personly like th Prov1x's. but there are numerous brands that supply balls of equal or superior playablity. I use the prov's for the intimidation factor in the tournaments i play in because only the good dare to play them!
Re: Ball brand count from the Top 30 FedEx Cup Players
I thought Calc played Titleist's? I thought it was him they interviewed on Sunday asking about how he marked his balls and he said said it had to do with how everyone was hitting titleists so he marks his so he knows without a doubt they are his.
He made it sound as if he hit Titliest's and wanted his markings to stand out amongst the other's.
Re: Ball brand count from the Top 30 FedEx Cup Players
Calc is not listed on anyone's website but PING's (for clubs, obviously).
Titleist has a list on their website for players of their balls and not their clubs (like Vijay for example). Calc doesn't appear on it. He's also not on Srixon, Bridgestone, Nike, Callaway or Taylor Made. Maybe he makes his own.
