LPGA Player of the Year

Suzanne Petterson gets my vote. Everytime I've seen her play this year, she's looked the most in control of her game. Yeah I know there will be a lot of Ochoa cries on this, but I think Petterson has it. She's had to overcome a great deal of adversity to get where she is. And she beat Ochoa straight up yesterday.

Re: LPGA Player of the Year

You can vote all you want, but the LPGA Rolex Player of the Year is determined on a point-based system: As of last week (10/01/07), the standings were:

Rank Player Points
1 Lorena Ochoa 318.00
2 Suzann Pettersen 129.00
3 Morgan Pressel 96.00
4 Paula Creamer 89.00
5 Cristie Kerr 81.00
6 Stacy Prammanasudh 80.00
T7 Se Ri Pak 73.00
T7 Mi Hyun Kim 73.00
9 Jee Young Lee 71.00
10 Maria Hjorth 68.00

Petterson's playoff win over Ochoa yesterday should close the gap a bit, but the gap is enormous! I think Ochoa has the 2007 POY award pretty much taken care of.

Deservedly so in my opinion.

Re: LPGA Player of the Year

I just had this same conversation intraoffice here and lo and behold I was called a 'racist' for that opinion. If wasn't so indicative of a larger problem, I would just laugh and the ridiculousness of it. And here's what really kills me, here is the guy's statement '

"You're just saying that because Petterson is a white blonde and Ochoa is a dirty Mexican"

I'm still speechless at this, all I do is state my opinion that Petterson deserves recognition as player of the year and that's racist, yet he calls Ochoa a 'dirty Mexican' and that's not?!?

Man does this drive me crazy when the 'racist' accusation is brought into something where no such thing existed.

Unbelievable.

This just came out of the blue? Have you talked to this guy before? You didn't say anything about Ochoa to provoke him? Is he Mexican? If not, maybe he was projecting, psychologically speaking, his own racist inclinations onto you. You didn't ask him to qualify his statement? How did you respond? You didn't tell us that. Kinda makes me wonder why you'd post such a provocative account without addressing those questions. Perhaps thou doth protest too much?

Yes, came out of the blue. I've never had any such comment from him before, although he is a person that rapidly jumps to conclusions without a solid basis of fact. I think he's just one of these fools that likes to throw that type of blame around. I just told him he was way off base and got away from him. There's no reasoning with people that ridiculous.

Maybe not LPGA "Player" of the Year, but how about the Ultimate Professional LPGA Player of the Ages...

I should say. I rather thought the gentleman would prefer me to begin the inquest immediately upon said comment.
