I just quickly read the article on Rory Sabbatini in the newest issue of GD. I was pretty neutral in feelings for him before reading it, but now I kind of like him. It was interesting to hear about him from his wife's perspective and that of his tour friends like Davis Love III. According to them, he's a friendly and helpful guy. He's donated a lot of money to charity and loves to sign autographs. The article states his obvious bad temper and competitive attitude. I think the article is good for Rory's image and I'm glad I read it.
I thought he got a raw deal from the media over his Tiger comments this past summer. From that point I liked him. I thought the whole thing was the most ridiculous brewhaha over nothing. I want people out there with fire to take on Tiger, who the heck wants to see people roll over for him?
I like the guy to be a little arrogant loud mouth(and I think that is was he and most of the boys on the tour are). It adds color to a sport thats bland and boring. Give me the Bubba's with there Tape worms and the Daly's with there Hooters and the Woody's with thier self abuse. Its alot more interesting than watching the Loves and Howells blueblooding it up to the tune of elevator music. Unfortunately this smells of Damage control from for his sponsors and is a sure sign of another sellout hooking his ego up to the corporate teet.

Absolutely - you can't disguise bad behavior, or just say "he's fiery". I don't think he is any more competitive or fiery than Tiger. He just isn't mature enough to conduct himself appropriately.
He stands out from the Luke Donalds and Steve Strickers. He's a different kind of golfer. IMO, golf needs some of that. I think it's nice to see that he has a side other than the one that the media and critics seem to drone on.
In a similar way, Camilo Villegas, Ian Poulter and Jesper Parnevik add color with their wardrobes. Bubba Watson and Boo Weekly add variety with their country-boy attitudes. John Daly adds excitement with his personal life escapades.
I think the game is a lot more diverse and exciting than it was in the early 90's when I started following it, and I think Rory adds to that. That is why I like him.
