Exclamation ESPN Takes Over Early Round Masters Coverage

Greetings ....

NEWS »» ESPN replacing USA for TV coverage of Masters 1st and 2nd Rounds

We can be assured of two things ...

1
The way ESPN televises the Masters will not change very much from how USA did it. What will be interesting to see is how ESPN deals with Augusta's strict broadcast regulations, such as limited advertising and no promotion of other network shows. And what is ESPN to do with their bottom-of-screen sports ticker?

2
Mike Tirico being named as host means no Chris Berman. Hallelujah! Right on!

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Sport

A) They should be able to get a premium on advertising $$ based on the limited avails, thus making up for any loss in advertising revenue. B) What do you mean by promoting other network shows? Other ESPN programming? Most of the other network commercials are within the Satellite or cable providers commercial inventory and not controlled by the broadcaster (ESPN). Even then, the broadcaster can usually prempt the network commercial by simply agreeing to run those commercials at a different time. At least that's how it works in radio-land.

Not sure about the sports ticker. Good question.

Mike Tirico...Yeah!

Re: ESPN Takes Over Early Round Masters Coverage

I think he meant the promotion of other ESPN programming. Oftentimes you'll find ESPN promoting its other programs during the telecast of sporting events. A good example is when a guy like Mike Tirico says "be sure to tune into SportsCenter following our coverage to get complete scores and highlights" or when they flash the name or logo of another ESPN production on the screeen during play.
