In the pre FedEx Cup days, the real excitement of the year was over as the Wannamaker Trophy was awarded to the winner of the PGA Championship. Sure, there was the Tour Championship, but for me, that never held much excitement.
Anyway, this season, there was a lot of action after the PGA. But, now that the FedEx Cup is over, there are still '07 Tour events going on. It seems like none of the big names are playing and the winning scores are -20, -22, -24. Kind of dilutes the Tour? What would Tiger shoot on a course that some Nationwider destroyed with 64, 67, 66, 65???
I don't have the golf channel, so these golf events are semi non-existant to me. I've noticed the media coverage is also non-existant.
I think if a top player wants to play the Frys.Com open, then they can do so, but the current events are people playing to keep their cards. I think it is appropriate for the players in the top 50 to avoid these events, in respect to the players.
To the "average" sports fan, there is little interest right now in golf, and maybe that is not such a bad thing. People need a break. Many pro seasons are too long these days. See baseball in November.
As for the winning scores, when the conditions are right, these players can really light up the scoreboard with birdies. In my opinion, Tiger really shows his greatness on the tougher golf courses rather than the easier golf courses. I also think the fans just want to see a close battle coming to the last few holes. If the leaders are 2 under or 20 under, it really does not matter.
I think the USPGA schedule needs revisiting. The tournaments are really lacking in class post the Fedex. To me the excitement has just disappeared for two weeks and may even continue as I am not sure what players are teeing it up over the closing weeks. The only benefit is that some lesser known lights are getting a mighty easy road to lining their pockets with plenty of cash.

I havnt been watching! I toned out after the tour championship.
1. The Masters needs to remove the criteria that Fed Ex participants are invited and just keep the top 30 on the final money list. It looks like only one additional person will get in (Steve Flesch). It will at least get all but the top 10 or so in some of these events.
2. Get rid of the Fall finish and make it survival of the fittest. Simply if some of the Fed Ex events can't cut it, replace them with some of the Fall Finish events. Make the season end at the Tour Championship.
3. Replace the Tour Championship with the Player's Championship and go back to status quo otherwise.
I lean to travel alone not in groups. And I have been to Spain a few times on travel by myself. I think it is a beautiful country, and I'd love to go back for awhile. Cities like mallorca and cadiz are all unforgettable. If you're in Barcelona be sure to check out the Picasso museum as well and the best way to get around Spain is by train. I recommend you go to Spain, if you want to travel to Europe.

Now, what the #$% does that have to do with this thread? Oh, wait, it's useless and uninvited spam.
I enjoy watching golf and it doesn't really matter what time of year it is.....Been watching some of the tourneys overseas as well as the LPGA finishing tournaments....personally it doesn't matter to me what Tiger could shoot on a course....his playing in a tournament doesn't determine if I'll watch...as a matter of fact, I get pretty bored with tournament coverage that's "all Tiger, all the time" which is where things have gotten when he's playing.....you make it sound like the Nationwide Tour is some obscure, no name Tour....give the guys some credit for having game....
