Re: Should Tour players be allowed to wear shorts? (men)
I assume then that the players in question dont mind that they are being noticed and talked about for there appearance over ability in the first instance. Sexism sells!!?!?

I would assume they do mind in the sense that they want their ability noticed as well - after all they are professional athletes. However, I'd be surprised if you can find any woman who doesn't dress to show her "assets" to full advantage. I'm not trying to be hard on my own sex, but it's innate - look if I have great legs, of course I want to show them. If you're looking at my legs, maybe you won't be thinking that there's another darn woman on the course that day.
Bump - it's taken many years for the LPGA to get over the stigma of the 70's. Middle America wasn't comfortable with their fan base at that time. So I think yes, Sex sells, not Sexism.

Personally speaking the more of the fairer sex on the course the better.I have never understood what some men object to when they see women playing golf, i have had several arguements with peopl about this.

I just heard someone I was playing with this past weekend comment on this, his reasoning was that women are too much of a distraction on the course, they slow things down, and often make too much noise. I personally have never witness acts to support this opinion, but this guy is a club member that plays almost everyday.

fin i think they should be able to choos the things they wear
Re: Should Tour players be allowed to wear shorts? (men)
I think the players should be able to decide for themselves, as long as there are some guidelines. Some of the shorts I have seen out for men are a bit much. I would also have to chime in and say that IMHO the LPGA also needs to set some guidelines for the ladies also. I saw Wie in a tourney this earlier year that I thought were...shall we say showing to much of her assets. I think people would be suprised as to how some of the guys would present themselves, and how many would stay in long pants.

I absolutely hate the idea of PGA Tour players wearing shorts. Pants are so much more professional looking, IMO. Only on 90+ degree days with 90%+ humidity will I not wear slacks and a belt with a collared shirt tucked in.

As far as the LPGA goes, Royalwulff, short shirts are a desired outfit for the hotter players. Seriously, a couple of years ago, that was suggested to get more viewers.
