Should Tour players be allowed to wear shorts? (men)

Was curious to know what the fan opinion is on this one. Seems to always come up as a topic of debate during hot tournaments. Any need to keep this tradition?

Also, isn't there a provision that would allow a Tour player to wear a kilt if he so choose? or would that only be limited to British Open play?

You want to try playing in a kilt in a scottish winter then go right ahead, but its more than youre titliests that will be cold.

Actually i played 2-3 holes in a kilt on the morning of my wedding.

Just to be able to play golf on your wedding day is enough, kilts and good play non-withstanding!

Almost forgot the thread topic...

I don't want to see J. Furyk's knees...or JD rocking the cargo shorts...there are very tasteful shorts available and I have seen golfers who look like (and might be worth) a million bucks who were wearing shorts, I just don't favor them for the tour pro...

Not too long ago the mock shirt was approved for play and caddies were allowed to wear shorts. Tradition's do change, but still, I would prefer Tour Players to stay in long pants.

Almost, but I think you still have to have your shirt tucked in.

Nah..Keep the tradition. Pants are the way to go. I don't even wear shorts on the course. The technology today in apparel make the "to hot" argument weak.

You can just picture Duffy Waldorf in matching shirt and shorts.

I'm kinda surprised at some of the attitudes on this board regarding these traditions. What do you care if pros wear shorts or not? It it some reflection on the integrity of the game or do you just think that it looks classless? Just about every casual golfer and caddies can. Why not pros if they choose to do so?

I too prefer to see the tour players in long pants. Why do I care? Just a preference! No big deal, but as a 'customer' of the PGA Tour (for example through watching TV), I might as well state my preference!

Why the surprise - golf has always been about tradition and the sense of nostalgia it brings. I think that's what many players like about it. Personally, I don't care if the male pros wear shorts or not, but agree with some of the others that they should be of a certain length and cut. For myself, I'm happy skirts are back in style for women.
