Why do we not see Norman on the Champions tour? He's relatively young and with his talent I would think he would be a good competitor there? Has he given up golf?
It could be related to the fact that he has been going through a bitter divorce since mid-2006..I don't think its final yet and it is reported it will cost him about 100 - 150 million to get rid of her.....that would definately take the edge off my competitive desires....
I think he is to busy fighting with Fichem and everybody else anyway. The guy certainly doesnt need the money and I dont think there is alot of glory in the old guys circuit.
Between course design, hisvinelands and property interests.his very expensive divorce (hope he gets a receipt) and sergio dating his daughter,i think golf is way down his list of priorities just now.
He was the best all around golfer for close to 10 years. His mind just wasn't in the same league as Faldo. He will look back and say he wudda, cudda, shudda, but you can't take away his golf game. He was truly one of the best drivers of the golf ball that ever played. It is rare to find someone who could play all 4 major venues as well as he did.
I would put his best game against the rest of the field in today's game. Tiger is the only one in today's game who could beat Greg in his prime. Ernie and Phil do not really compare. Greg faced far better competition.
I always luv'd to see Greg Norman playing back when i was just starting out to play this game. He always seemed to "go for it", which did cost him more than a few times, but I feel he really did'nt play for glory or money he just luv'd the game at that time in his life. Maybe things have changed for him, as thinggs tend to, but i do wish him luck in his new passsion's because he inspired this duffer.
My dad took me to see greg norman play and win at the martini classic,it was played at rosemount in perthshire. I was into golf at the time but seeing the game played the way it should be really ignited my love affair with the game, cant belive it was the best part of 30 years ago.

We're all getting old. Or if you prefer the more morbid view like a colleague of mine always says - each day we're a day closer to the grave
