Kazakhstan golf prediction

Hi, everyone!

Just curious, what do you think about the future of golf in Kazakhstan?

In 2009, Kazakhstan Open will be part of the main European Tour with total prize money of over 2 million euros. What do you think are the prospects for golf growth in that oil-rich Central Asian country? Will it be as big as in Dubai?

Thank you,

Re: Kazakhstan golf prediction

Interesting question. It would be nice to see golf spread to the 'Stans.

Having read reviews etcthe only thing holding it back at the moment is the infrastructure, roads, hotels etc. Another country building a lot of courses is Bulgaria, espacially along the adriatic coast, its going to take off in a big way.

Re: Kazakhstan golf prediction

the thing is, the city needs to be a lot more than just an oil rich city, it needs to have some sightseeing, plenty of shopping, some cultural attractions, and some entertainment, which are lacking in Kazakhtan. The tour wives do not just spend their time there on the course watching their husbands, or in the club house gossiping with other wives. Not to mention the kids. Dubai on the other hand has everything of the above, or Singapore, or Shanghai. Phil combined his tour with family vacation.
