Who won that tournament yesterday when Ernie Els made a triple bogey on the last hole to lose. All of this talk about his collapse and they dont even mention the winner

John Bickerton is a regular on the European Tour, I suppose you could call him a journeyman that done good.
I hate to see someone collapse and "lose" a tournament as Els did, but the win means Bickerton gets a 2 year tour exemption and can stop worrying about having to do well enough to keep his card, oh and there's the 158,000 euros to make his Xmas more enjoyable! I somehow think it means more to him than it would Els.
Interesting that you call him an "unknown" - this was his his 3rd European Tour win.
Sorry, I didn't mean that to come across how it reads. It was more that Bickerton is pretty well known in Europe, but you guys haven't heard of him.
Does our tour not receive much coverage over there? I mean I know pretty much all of the PGA tour members, well I did until Setanta bought the rights to show PGA events and slapped another subscription on top of the current one

I actually live in Scotland, but i havent been following results for a while due to work and family commitments.its ignorance on my part.
I looked at the first 10 or 15 people on the leaderboard and the only two names I recognized were Ernie and Richard Sterne. I don't see much of the European Tour. If I had the Golf Channel, I surely would have heard of more players.
