Jason Day Wants to Pwn Tiger down.

Hah, Mini-Sabbatini Get a load of this...

Here is the article:

AUSTRALIAN young gun Jason Day is hunting world No. 1 Tiger Woods as he prepares to debut on next year's US PGA Tour.

"I'm sure I can take him down. My goal is to be the No. 1 golfer in the world and I want to chase Tiger," Day said yesterday.

"I want to measure myself against Tiger Woods. After I became the youngest player (at 19) to win a PGA Tour event this year, I heard a lot about being the next big thing.

"There's a lot of pressure and you try to handle it. All I want to do is work hard, win tournaments and catch up with Tiger.

"At 19, Tiger didn't win a tournament as a professional. Next year on the Tour I've got to win two tournaments because that's what he won and I want to try and keep up with him.

"It's a big ask for a 20-year-old kid on his first year out on the PGA Tour."

Does he think Woods knows he's out there and planning to stalk him?

"I can't say for sure, but I think he is," Day said.

"If I was him, I would be. I watch everyone.

"He (Woods) watches a lot of golf. He has so much time. He played 16 events, what does he do with his time?

"He'd be aware of me, he'd be saying, 'Here's another kid coming up'.

"I just want to work really hard and take him down."

Day knows there's a big gap to close, but he knows there's parts of his game that will get a lot better.

"I need to improve from my nine-iron down coming in," he said.

"In the rough around the greens, Tiger gets up and down about 60 to 70 per cent, whereas I'm getting up and down like 50 per cent."

For a player ranked 170th in the world, Day's lofty statements could be easily misconstrued.

But there can be no denying his ambition or ability -- his achievements match those of fellow Queenslander Adam Scott and Victorian Aaron Baddeley at the same stage.

Day has not hit a full golf shot for two months, legacy of a wrist injury that has caused his withdrawal from next week's Australian PGA Championship at Coolum.

But he still hopes to contest the Australian Open in Sydney from December 13-16.

"My wrist is between 80 and 90 per cent right," Day said.

"I have a big year in 2008 and don't want it to flare up. If it's right, I'll play the Open. If not, I'll be cautious and get ready for the Sony Open in Hawaii in January."

Day returned to Brisbane a week ago after his successful Nationwide season, where he finished fifth on the money list to earn PGA Tour promotion.

He had a significant year in America, living and travelling with coach and caddie Col Swatton, buying a house in Orlando, meeting a new girlfriend in Ohio and attracting media attention through his golf.

Day had invaluable life experiences away from the golf course -- like notching up $40,000 on his credit card one weekend buying furniture.

"My card was cancelled. They thought it must have been stolen," he said.

His shopping list included three giant plasma screen TVs, with another two still to come.

"When I first brought the house, the only thing I had was a pump-up mattress," he said.

Day epitomises the fresh new face of Australian golf. He will be missed at Coolum next week, but will hopefully be fit for the Australian Open.

If not, watch for him on next year's US Tour. Tiger might even sneak a peak over his shoulder.

Nothing wrong with self belief, everyone comments on tiger's mental strength and how no one else can match it,why laugh when a player comes along with as strong a sense of self belief, tiger will be replaced one day,he cant go on forever.

Before Tiger became the player he is Sandy Lyle was asked 'What did he think of Tiger Woods?' His reply was 'I dont know i have never played there' My point is everyone has to start somewhere.

Uh, yeah.......Let your clubs do the talking, Jason. Nothing wrong with self confidence, but that's just stupid.

Don't get me wrong, self confidence is a good thing. But compared to tiger, this dude has done nothing. Not the best time to speak out about how he is going to take tiger down.

First off... You can't "take tiger down". Tiger didn't take Arnold Palmer, or Jack or anyone else down. Those men are still pillars of golf and will remain forever that way. Tiger will follow suit and will only eclipse them in accomplishments. The status of a golfer, unlike most sports, is not only gauged by performance but by character.

The person that will top Tiger or Jack, IF this happens, will not be doing it by way of his words.

Right, I don't think he means it in a "take down" way, he just means it in a "take down" way

He probably just means the #1 ranking in the world, he wants to "take tiger down" from the #1 spot in the world. If he means he wants to take down Tiger like "take down tiger" I hate him even more.

yeah everyone has to start somewhere, but don't throw yourself under the bus like Jason did here, that's just ......and if Day thinks Tiger is aware of him, well he's correct to a point, Tiger is aware that "Day" comes after "Night" but he's not aware of Jason Day by any means...

Excellente!! I'm so sick of everyone being so far up Tiger's backside that I would go out of my way to applaud such comment.

Im right there with you gintonic. Tiger has an extraordinary game but we need more people to challenge him instead of folding to him. Duval had his number and its unfortunate what happened to him. Im just going to keep pulling for lefty LOL, oh the torment!!!
