Sad news for sure. Duplantis will live on in Alan Shipnuck's great book Blood, Sweat, & Tees. A must read for any golf nut.

I drove by the scene of the accident at about 3:55 am. He was on the median of the coast highway, just north of Torrey Pines State Beach and south of Del Mar. No traffic at all. Can't figure out why he would be in the 20-25 foot median and not walking on the side of the road. My guess is he was drinking in Del Mar and walking back to the course--still can't figure out why he was in the median. Really dark right there. What a tragedy.
