Re: Why would anyone...?

I've played a number of sports, some of them rather well, and had more than a few friends go professional. When an athlete is very good at sports, sometimes a phenomenon occurs that I call "prolonged adolescence." I've seen it happen in high school, college and professional sports. The elite athlete has a lot of routine things taken care so he (or she) can concentrate on sports. It can take them out of the normal system of checks and balances that the rest of us face in our daily lives. Typically some of those around the athlete become "yesmen" who reinforce whatever the athlete says and does. Without honest feedback, this can lead to rather strange behavior, i.e. "What was he thinking?" Chances are he wasn't thinking at all. At least not like a responsible adult.

A hawk of all things. Man, that's getting close to an eagle--he's going to be shunned for a long time.

I think you hit the nail of the head Billy.

Re: Why would anyone...?

The guy used poor judgement in hitting golf balls at the bird, ultimately hitting and killing it. It is regretable that the bird died, but come on folks, is there not more important stuff going on in the world to be pouring over. Isenhour has apologized for the mistake, but the media want stop until this guy goes down in flames.
