ESPN.com has a news brief regarding Tiger Woods' explaination of "an obscenity-laced threat" that Tiger directed at a photographer who clicked a shot during his swing during last week's WGC-CA Championship.
I hadn't heard anything about this, but can't fault Tiger. I do wonder what he said, though...
The guy is a golf god, but regularly freaks out on the gallerys that crowd him like a sideshow...can understand why on the one hand, but if you are the best in the world participating in a spectator sport, you pretty much have to deal with it as it is the path that you chose...if not go back to $2 nassaus at the club on Saturdays...

Here's what he said:
Quote:
"Next time you do that, I am going to ******* your ******* *********, you ********* ***********, and after that I'll *********** your ********* ***** ********."
I would react no differently and would expect Tiger being the competitor he is to do the same. About time some of the blame goes to the jerks that aren't supposed to be taking shots up close during the swings to pay the penalty. Maybe he could just get some big bodygaurds to smack them hard and then just pay their fine. Perhaps it would then stop.
Until tournament organizers get this situation under control, I don't blame TW and associates for bringing this issue to the forefront once in a while. The TV announcers had some interesting comments also: Something along the lines of "and while you're at it, throw out the guys who shout 'get in the hole' immediately after impact as well".

I also noticed that as well. Some of them get a little too quick on their yell and have heard them say it on tee shots, approaches and putts just a touch early which could also mess up a shot. I believe they like them to be enthusiastic but also know they should keep it respectful as well. If they escorted the violators out more then it would eventually stop hopefully.

That is the best comment in this thread. Instead of Tiger constantly yelling at the photographers, he should be able to point out the culprit, and there should be security to remove the person from the property, and if it's a photographer, take away their media credentials.
One of the big problems is that the marshalls at these golf tournaments are all volunteers from local golf clubs. They are not getting paid, and they are all so smitten with seeing pro golfers up close, that they don't even worry about crowd control.
With all the money the Tour has, they should have some paid security guards at each hole.
Yep, they should throw them in a caged golf cart (with colored lights, but without the siren!) and drive them straight to the exit. It should send a warning to others if that were to happen, but the 'big names', and especially Tiger, do attract a lot of crazy fans. I bet quite a few wouldn't get the message even if it had their name printed on it!
Tiger needs to get this under control. If he's gonna be the number one player in the world he needs to act like it. He is a role model to a lot of people and this doesn't look good for him. Last month someone was on here complaining that Tiger said GD during the match play while he was watching with his grandson, and he had to explain it ti him. Tiger didn't suffer off the tee he was hitting fairways, Ogilvy was the one that was playing out of the rough all day. If someone takes a pic on your backswing it should effect you there, not once your on the green.
When someone else loses a tourney they will say "I need to work on my irons/putting/diving.....", they know why they lost the tourney and they admit it. Tiger blames it on the condition of the greens, the photographers, or something else he'll never blame himself.
The photographer is an idiot and should be escorted out of the course.
TW must learn to control this reaction. He has said things out loud on golf courses during tourneys that should not be said. If anything, it seems to have gotten worse in recent years.
I can never remember Jack losing his mouth like TW has. It's an unfair comparison, and I would agree TW is on TV cameras more than Jack ever was, but TW must be the almost perfect example for all the fans that idolize him. This comes with the territory and he must accept it and improve his demeanor in front of fans.
Off the subject, but I would expect Tiger to smile more, even when he is not winning the tournament. Experience should have taught him this. I remember Jack used to visit the TV booth after many a round that was less than great.
