"The Britney Spears of the golf world -- the trainwreckeriffic John Daly -- seriously thinks that his name is still worth something.
He's filed suit against Hippo Golf, whom he alleges used his logo and name to hawk a line of golf clubs after their deal with Daly had ended. Given how far he's crashed on tour -- and crazazy antics like walking off the course in the middle of a round and tussling with his wife in public -- it's a wonder anyone wants to be associated with J.D.
Hippo's lawyers had no comment; we're told that Daly's also embroiled in legal action with other golf companies. No wonder he can't hit the ball straight."
There are significant legal issues if the facts are true, so good for him. No matter what you think of JD he has a right to defend his own legal interests especially if a company is unlawfully profiting by using his name or logo
Personal problems aside, you can't blame J.D. for suing a company if they're using his image and logo without permission. He needs to make all the money he can from other ventures, lord knows he's not making any on tour. I think I've still got an old Hippo Daly driver that my wife's grandpa gave me last year when I first started playing.
The normal, beer drinking, have fun at golf, not taking it too serious, guys like JD. Who doesn't like a jolly Fat guy? I think someone else's life was train wreak, and yes he died, but I also remember him being loved by everyone, and the most popular Saturday Night Live guy ever..Chris Farely. Come to think of it, they actually looked a like too.
That are exactly the same, hardly a difference at all. I am surprised no one compared them. Heck, you could even argue Babe Ruth (of course minus all the records) A drinking, smoking, fat guy who loved what he did. If there was a Hooters around back then, then Babe would have been there for sure.
the most popular Saturday Night Live guy ever..Chris Farely.
I liked Farley as much as anyone but, at best, he'd come in third behind Belushi and Chase...and probably even Aykroyd. Maybe you are too young to remember them but imo the characters created by those three have stood the test of time more than any created by Farley. Of course, you're entitled to you're opinion but you should qualify it as such.
