John Daly is guilty of placing the game of golf in disrepute. Just another example.
I don't understand this. What has he done that is so dishonorable to golf? I get that most people think he's squandered his talent, but last time I checked there was no rule that says, "You have to strive to be the best, or don't play at all." He seems to be enjoying himself and is more than getting by - why do the choices he's made with his life offend you?

If you think walking off courses during tournaments, turning up under the influence of liquor, throwing golf clubs, not honouring sponsorship agreements ete etc etc is not in the best interest of the game then I must be missing YOUR point.
I guess I just don't care as much about him and his actions as you do, vossgl.
If you used to be a fan and feel like he's wasted his talent along with your esteem for him, I can understand that. I'm a Detroit Lions fan, I know something about underperforming athletes.
But if you have no personal stake in or with the man, then why get so bent out of shape because of him?
On a good percentage of public golf courses, I think you'll find more golfers along the lines of Mr. Daly than you will golfers like any other tour professional.
Speaking of other tour pro's, who does fit your standard for "being in the best interest of the game"? The best player in the world is often rebuked for his loud cursing, and I've read his lips on television on more than one occasion. What current PGA member passes the test in your book?
This is free advice (worth every penny of the price): Life is too short to worry about what other people are doing. If he upsets you so much, I would suggest you stop paying attention to him.
